Benchmarking : SSD vs HDD

Thread Starter
Hi everyone!

I'm new to benchmarking and was wondering if the FPS/scores depend on the game/application being installed in the SSD or HDD.

If it does, then how worse will my FPS/scores get in benchmarks/games if I install it in the HDD instead of the SSD?

I only have a 120GB SSD and its run out of space after installing three games along with Windows 7.

Thanks a lot! smile.gif

You can use Fraps to benchmark. It will record your FPS for about 2 minutes and give you the data. You can do a test when the game is on the HDD or SSD. I wouldn't expect much of a difference because FPS is mainly dependent on GPU/CPU.

I was hoping that someone else could tell me if it will actually make a difference or not.
Its benchmarking. Even 0.1 FPS matters! tongue.gif

Actually it does help your FPS, I don't mean it'll make your video card work better but your lower framerates will be higher in games that use massive textures or have a massive amount of mods. Any 8gb+ sized game would benefit from it. *cough*Skyrim*cough*

I wouldn't think so, any benchmarking programs I have used load the benchmark into the system memory first, so the hdd or ssd is basically taken out of the equation.
