1600 Vs 1866 - Page 2

I'm a big fan of G.SKILL Trident X; I got my 2400mHz CL10 kit (2x8GB) for $134.99 on Newegg, and I am loving it. CL10 is pretty slow, though; I have been able to hit 2133mHz 9-10-10-26, and 1866mHz CL8-9-9-22 around 1.6-1.7V, and it performs great. As people have likened it to before, it really is a "Tight Timing Monster".

Over 1600MHz, the difference isn't that vast in performance, you'll only see them in benchmarks. Real world difference probably won't be noticeable.
But then again the price difference isn't that big as well. So it's really up to you.

Unless you're using an APU, then the difference becomes more noticeable as the memory frequency increases since the iGPU uses a portion of RAM as VRAM.

Go with what you can budget or afford, just remember you can always downclock the faster ram but the slower ram can only go so fast before crash. I Gskill snipers 1866 that clock up to 2133mhz. I also purchased 2400mhz ram but it would not boot on my current setup no matter what I did. Some people have success with 2400 some dont with FX series chips. On the 4 chips vs 2 chips, 2 chips will stress the IMC less and therefore might net you a more stable overclock.
