Advice on First OC --- Need some help.

Last night I had a lot of trouble and ended up resetting the Bios at the end of it all; planning on starting fresh tonight.

When I start, is it best to set the RAM to the LOOSEST possible settings? I.E. 5-5-5-15 (I think 6-6-6-15 is possible as well ??) and then increase the FSB until the CPU stops responding to Vcore increases, THEN tighten the RAM timing to get the best performance??? Stock voltage is 1.8 V. When should I up that ? And How high should I go? I have heard people running that RAM at 2.1 V but in my bios anything about 1.95 V the value flashes (not sure why...contacting MSI for support...any ideas???)

Also: How many Vcore increases should I do (in a row) before quitting? I mean if I increase the FSB to 225 (+ 50 mV from stock) and it locks the system....should I just continue to increase Vcore until I reach either 65C or 1.525 V ??

It's best to put your memory on a divider, so if your system doesnt pass your stability test, you know it's down to the CPU.

When you've overclocked your CPU as far as you want, start bringing your memory back up to 1:1 ratio (or as close to that as you want).

How do you know when to stop increasing voltage? When your core temp starts getting a bit close to the safe limit in the official Intel specifications.

did you say the value flashes over 1.95v well thats mabey just telling you that you going nere a ram threshhole (spelt wrong)

but with the right ram 2.1 v is fine with no worrys most ram is ok at 2.1 you will cut the ram life down a wee bit but its not like ur going to have that ram for over 3 years are you?

No I definately wouldn't have them for more than 3 years.

I just got word back from MSI Tech support and it seems I can't lock the PCI or SATA I/II frequency.

What does this mean in terms of FSB OC limits? I mean can I still overclock the FSB from 200-240...225 ??

MSI Tech Support also said that the values in the BIOS flash because they just want you to know that you are setting a voltage not recommended (or a voltage that COULD be hazardous).
