Wont enter Windows

Thread Starter
Okay..
So my computer mysteriously stopped working, got a blue screen , i figured it was a driver problem. However I couldnt enter in safe mode so I decided to reinstall the Windows XP Home Edition. However I had this Vista Inspirat operating system and I was unable to reinstall with the Windows XP cd.
So now I will install the Windows XP but not reinstalling. And my question is:
what are these partitions? To which one should I install the Windows XP and will I need to format my harddrive in order to install Windows XP?
Thanks in advance!!

Yes you Will want to format your HDD of all partitions if you only have the One OS and dont have a backup partition. Then in setup you select the HDD you wish to Install on then go from there.

DKDEATH Please dont Hijack the thread

A Partition is SEGMENT of the Drive where Files can be stored and installed.

If you wish to Keep some files you can Either perform a repair install that will allow you to keep all your currently installed Applications and files.

However if you want to do a Fresh Install you will need to bak up the files you want onto disk.

from what i remember Vista Inspirat is an addon to windows xp to make it look like vista

A partion is a section of the hard drive devoted to a particular oparating system . think of your harddisk as cake, when you divide a cake into pieces its as if you are creating a new partiton

Have you got a CD Burning program such as Alcohol 120 here : http://www.alcohol-soft.com/

You can use this app. You simply drag the folders into the copy window that you want to back up.
