THE PROGRESS SO FAR:

UPDATE #1: ORDERS, PREORDERS, AQUACOMPUTER.
UPDATE #2: SLEEVING.
UPDATE #3: AESTHETICS/NOOB MOMENTS.
UPDATE #4: SKETCHUPS AND IMPRESSIONS, PART 1
UPDATE #5: MOAR STUFF/EPEEN.
UPDATE #6: GODZILLA.
UPDATE #7: HOUSEKEEPING
UPDATE #8. MODDING WOES/FINAL PREPARATIONS.

Hey all,

Even though it's been quite some time since I've been here I'm still new at this build log stuff, I guess I wanna make it awesome so I'll share it with you guys smile.gif

Currently my rig is in my siggy:

i7 3930K/ASUS RIVE/RevoDrive3/Intel 520/Inno3D 680/Dominator GT 2133/Antec TCP Quattro 1200W/Watercooling smile.gif

changed a few things recently, now it's time to redo my build smile.gif

Not gonna be modding stuff any time soon so yeah, but defs will be watercooling and pix intensive biggrin.gif

SO FIRST UPDATE:

THE CASE OF THE CASES.

I've been looking for a case to supercede my 800D for quite some time now, recently some forumer sold a prospective TJ11 away so I'm kinda sad, but oh well.

I've been looking at a few cases that has what I want...

1. TJ11 -> Big and bad, got some nice rad space and easily workable with.

HOWEVER the two air vents in the middle of the case look bad, and it's a bit too curvy.

2. Corsair 900D -> Almost my dream case. Got EVERYTHING.

HOWEVER its not released yet, its gonna cost a ton and the window shows some 5.25" bays.

3. XSPC H2 -> Been used before, clean and slick look.

HOWEVER it comes flat packed and I'm lazy and you gotta buy drive covers for it.

Basically I'm looking for a case with enough cable routing space at the back (as well as tubing), a window, enough space to mount a cylindrical reservoir and looks slick. So post below if you got some ideas biggrin.gif

Cost is sub $600 smile.gif

I called this project mono. because I want it to reflect post-modernism and the contemporary style of black, grey and white in a system... biggrin.gif

Hope you guys will enjoy the buildlog biggrin.gif suggestions welcome biggrin.gif

THANKS TO THE FOLLOWING COMPANIES FOR HELPING ME OUT WITH MY BUILD:

UPDATE #1: ORDERS, PREORDERS, AQUACOMPUTER.

Well, first things first, I've sold off all the things I needed to sell off. Got my finances on track and I'm left with JUST $3 to spare. Cutting it close, mum definitely wasn't impressed with my brilliant maths skills...

I also chucked a sickie straight after my eco exam to strip my PC and to kickstart this project, just for you guys wink.gif Here's some pics:

I'm quite the fittings whore wink.gif

NOTE: I found this weird golden-brown bronze **** coloured layer of powder in my loop. This is obviously plasticiser, but for those of you that use coloured tube you obviously don't know the woes that plasticiser causes. This I think is one of the more severe cases on the net, it's literally poo brown stain which is stuck to the tube.

As you can see, the lighter coloured tube at the bottom is some Tygon stuff that I got off the forums, and the dark one is the "Dreamflex" tube from DangerDen. I'm not accusing both these companies for making trash products as I'm sure other tubing brands are also affected with this dirty problem.

Cut the tube apart and took some pretty hard scrubs to get some of that grime off the inner wall.

My warning to you all is I guess to STAY AWAY FROM CLEAR TUBING until we know for sure that there's none of this stuff anymore. Well, basically until I say so and post the pics smile.gif

I preordered the 900D off Amazon, seeing it rose 72c i got scared and preordered it before the price blew up the roof. Mum wasn't that impressed either, AFAIK they do charge you in your local currency with affixed exchange rates from their website yea? Hope I don't pay more than $394...I hope I can get the case shipped to me before the cases physically hit Australian shores, I'll plan on doing a relatively in-depth hands-on review of the case...Sydneysiders welcome to inspect and ponder whether they want a monstrosity as well smile.gif

Also ordered stuff off PCCG, however contemplating cancelling a few items and getting them locally (supporting Sydney businesses). Using eParcel for the first time as the shipping was the cheapest option. smile.gif Without Parcel Protection, coz I'm Asian.

So now since I'm PC-less, I'm posting on my mum's PC and god it's slow. This post will take long as hell.

1. Scythe Gentle Typhoon 1850rpm [AP-15]

These are the bomb, no dispute. Got 7 of em [Thanks Nullified smile.gif] and had a nice little chill on Thursday at West Ryde. Haven't opened them yet but I will this weekend to sleeve them, I might do an update on that. LOL sleeving ***

2. TKR

I love TKR. They are the only people in Australia to stock exotic parts and I LOOOOOOOOOVE that. Got my shipment from them today (thought it'd take like a week but it took a night, literally) and I was jizzing my pants as I opened the box.

Wasn't particularly impressed when I found brown paper bags covering the stuff, but when I got past that I could dig into the goodies. And by God, they were good. smile.gif

2 (I): REVIEW: AQUACOMPUTER AQUALIS PRO/NANO COATING/LED HOLDER

LINK:http://www.thekoolroom.com/product/aquacomputer-aqualis-pro-with-nano-coating-and-led-holder/
LINK:http://www.thekoolroom.com/product/aquacomputer-holder-for-aqualis-reservoir/

Holy moly is the first thing I thought of as I took not the reservoir box itself out, but the mount.

It's pretty damn big. The diameter of the res is 72mm:

Even the steel mount makes me cum all over the res.

When you unbox this piece of art it's literally the most beautiful reservoir I have ever seen. The design is so simple, so minimalistic yet so modern and sexy at the same time. Love it and would really recommend for everyone who can spend dosh on watercooling.

As it is made by AquaComputer in Germany we all know that it's quality and design all in one. I sound like I'm advertising for them don't I. Manuals and screws are included inside the res to save space for boxing purposes. It is pretty hard at first to figure out how to get to that stuff because the instructions outside are in German and the lack of tools provided makes taking out stuff such as the steel undercover of the Aqualis extremely difficult without a small screwdriver.

The only downfall of this res is the price (gotta agree with the treasurer). Most reservoirs are sub-$50AUD, even the higher end reservoirs don't reach the $100 arena. Only the high and mighty reservoirs like the FrozenQ T-Virus and the like reach the lofty heights in price tags, but this reservoir is worth every cent you pay for it.
RATING: 9.5/10
PROS: EVERYTHING, EXCEPT
CONS: The price, and lack of tools included

$98 TKR

2 (II): REVIEW: AQUACOMPUTER AQUAERO 5 XT

LINK:http://www.thekoolroom.com/product/aquacomputer-aquaero-5-xt/

Again probably the ultimate fan controller out there, Aquacomputer isn't really known as much as Lamptron, NZXT and Bitfenix for their fan controllers but let's just say that while everyone knows Seiko, Casio, even Rolex, not many people have heard of Patek Phillipe wink.gif

Again, very space-conscious box in display from AquaComputer. We open it up and...So much stuff!

Here we have the cables and the 4x temperature probes, I'll mount them in different places, I was thinking maybe near the CPU block, the GPU block, the mobo block and one of the rads? Or something along those lines.

And here she is...The real deal. :leet:

It just looks so sexy! :leet:

Here is the thread dedicated to this expensive little toy, I know I'll be having hours of fun with this but if I'm not I'm sure Kosti or someone in Sydney can come along and set this thing straight smile.gif The software looks confusing as LOL
http://forums.overclockers.com.au/showthread.php?t=1074447
BTW I AM PROUD TO BE MEMBER #7. biggrin.gif
Again, only downfall is the hefty price tag on this thing, Aquacomputer does make your wallet bleed but as said before the sheer quality and the countless possibilities as shown in the above thread for displays is amazing. I think again that it's worth every cent that I paid for it. Also, the lack of tools given to us from AquaComputer makes life hard for those that wish to change the frontplate/add a waterblock etc.
RATING: 9/10
PROS: Sexy design, very good fan controller, MORE THAN JUST "a fan controller", countless possibilities
CONS: Price, only four fans can be controlled at a time (unless you have splitters, can someone confirm this with me?), lack of tools provided

2 (III): MAYHEMS PASTEL ICE WHITE

Someone (Some people) are going to kill me for this, but YOLO.

2 (IV): LOLLIES

Easily the most expensive part of the build biggrin.gif. For those late nights when you're cable managing and routing tube and you need just *that* amount of sugar to get yourself on the roll.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand I think that's a wrap on the first update smile.gif
Basically got my TKR stuff and my fans, just waiting on the case and PCCG parts.

Be on the lookout these following weeks as I will have a few mini-updates such as sleeving ****, tube routing options and rad placings etc.

Thanks for reading, thanks even more for subbing and leaving a comment, I'll see you guys soon smile.gif

Stopped the work on mono. because I needed to help a friend build this:

anyway, update time biggrin.gif

UPDATE #2: SLEEVING.

Not much this update, just that PCCG's eParcel is still stuck in Sunshine West, and my future case probs hasn't left the production line yet...

Got these from a friend:

Anyway, this update is dedicated to sleeving, I've sleeved cables before but I think with every new thing to sleeve I've gotten better, the quality of my sleeving work this time around (I think) is one of the better ones I could find around here smile.gif

So this was the sleeving I did for my Enermax T.B. Silence fans:

As you can see, this is what I consider fully sleeved:

All three of my Enermax's:

So yeah, I'm sure quite a bit of people do what I used to do: We never bothered to get the three wires out completely and just sleeved what was poking out...

I think it doesn't look as slick, now all my fans are black, without any sign of heatshrink, past the rim of the fan as seen above. This also allows me to use any heatshrink I wanted.

Anyway, I think I might turn this update into a guide of how to sleeve the Scythe Gentle Typhoon (I know the majority of people reading this thread/read this thread have at least one of these). With a bit of practice, you get a clean sleeve in three to four minutes

This is the first batch of my GT's (I sleeved 2 the first time round)
Although I sleeved the entire length of wire, I couldn't get the wires back into the frame, so it ended up dangling around and about...

If you guys notice closely, theres a clip to hold the fan in place but the clip wont fit, nor will the cable go into the casing of the fan..So yeah it's not the best solution

But it passed the mounting test, so I'll leave it be, until I have time to resleeve them.

I spent about an hour today pondering how to sleeve the GT today so that I could put the clip back on, and keep the fan wires encased so it doesn't cause a huge bulge at the back and dangle around, and I think I have the solution!

HOW TO SLEEVE THE GENTLE TYPHOON!

Tools needed:

Don't think I'll need to get into much detail.

Step 1: Before you begin, you can't forget which pin goes where wink.gif A red and black pen is helpful here smile.gif

And then depin the bloody thing rolleyes.gif
took me forever with the depinning tool, then i found m trusty screwdriver.

Step 2: Take the clip off the fan and then pull the wires loose.

In the above picture you can see the clip that's taken off.
The clip is highlighted more closely here:

Step 3: Cut the desired length of heatshrink (2cm tops) and length of sleeving. I suggest setting alight the tips of the sleeve as it melts the paracord together, makes it stiffer and prevents it from fraying.

Step 4: Put the sleeve into the hole/ cavity of the fan casing:

Don't forget the heatshrink on the backside of the fan!

Step 5: Sleeve the bloody thing
And then heatshrink it.

It's alright to stuff up:

The sleeve nearly comes off! But it won't tongue.gif
Remember to repin the fan into the correct socket of the fan header!
And please heatshrink the fan head after you repin the header as this is important for measuring out the distance.
And remember to reclip the wire onto the fan frame smile.gif

Step 6: Pat yourself on the back because you'll have a fully sleeved, fully functional GT!

And here are all seven of them, all fully sleeved (although two of em need a redo):

And I think this sums up another update, this time on sleeving!

I don't think I'll update again until I get my stuff off PCCG...Still waiting on a few things anyway, and most importantly the case...

Next update will be on a PSU and the stuff I get biggrin.gif

Stay tuned and thanks for reading!

PS Some of you probably realise that this is a copy+paste job from another OC forum but that's ok, after another one it'll be real time biggrin.gif

UPDATE #3: AESTHETICS/NOOB MOMENTS.

So for this build I would ultimately like a clean monochrome look, hence the name mono.

You could say I'm pretty anal about getting stuff right LOL

Anyway, did something stupid:

Because my old RX360 and RX120 rads had red running through them and had not been flushed properly, I decided to use a diluted vinegar solution to give em a good rinse. It did the trick alright, the pink came straight off the one year old rads.

What I didn't know was that the vinegar trick only worked for the old dirty rads, and not spanking new German stuff. frown.gif

So yea, I left the vinegar solution in my Aqualis Pro for about four hours, and after that it left a residue/stain where the vinegar had reacted with the nickel plating, forming nickel acetate (bluish-green, can be seen irl)

An RMA with AC directly failed because of this "misjudgement" or "stupidity" so now I bought a new tube to replace the stained/reacted one...

As previously mentioned I was asked to try my luck with a multitude of substances such as a base (soap), demineralised water, soap, window cleaner etc... All have been tested and didn't work.

Here is the latest thing I have done:

Unfortunately, WD40 did not work as well. frown.gif
you could say fortunately because if it did then i woulda wasted $20 getting a replacement tube but w/e

So this **** still remains until further notice.

It's been almost a month since my PCCG stuff came through and I didn't get a chance to show it off frown.gif

As you can see this was a relatively small haul...But it gets me wet anyway :Pirate:

Some male to male extenders and L/T-blocks.

Note that if I have not mentioned it before, one of my main objectives for mono. is to hide as much tubing as possible. I do not want lengths of tube running everywhere inside my case, so I have decided that where possible I would rout the tubing behind the motherboard tray. Good thing 900D wink.gif

The new tubing that I will be using, 3 metres of it. Looks nice and smells like turd :Paranoid:

They also include SysPrep, which is basically some solution you add while flushing the loop to make sure all the pH's are the same and everything is in order etc...Anyone have previous experience with this?

The biggest thing other than the 900D is this monster:

Sizing up to the RX brothers coz they were talking ****:

Warning taken.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
no **** sherlock

Releasing the Kraken! It's so...perfect biggrin.gif

Big boy smile.gif

I sound like an excited schoolboy when I open these things... Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
maybe because I am a schoolboy
rolleyes.gif

And that's all the PCCG stuff!

Recently, I also acquired a BLACK PCB GTX680!
Really excited about this is the blue PCB makes any card/board look cheap, thanks to xTigerx whom I've had the pleasure of dealing with the first time, I'm pretty sure he liked the offer as I gave away my backplate as well, which I'm starting to regret as I want another one :upset:

^ Goodbye Inno3D frown.gif That bastard did clock pretty well, I hit 12k 3D11 with him :Pirate: 1305mhz l0l

Also got the last of my Scythe Gentle Typhoons (thanks xRdawgz!), got 8 now altogether and I'll find a time, preferably after my half yearlies to sleeve the last three of them smile.gif

Anyway, while we're onto aesthetics this is the stuff I will have in my rig:

Those boxes contain probably half of the stuff I'll be running in my rig haha

For my next update I will be installing the new tube back into my reservoir...that would certainly make me happy again l0l

I may/may not have a few minor updates along the way but my next big update will probably when my big boy arrives at me doorstep biggrin.gif definitely pumped now as I am getting slightly jealous of the Uncle Sams in Yankeeland who are flaunting their #swag on the 900D thread :upset::upset::upset:

As for questions: I'm wondering whether I should ask to get sponsored...
It's not too big of a project in terms of any w/c company, I've had minor experience with w/c and no one knows who I am but at the same time I need some extra stuff:

- Another 480 rad
- A GTX680 block (AquaComputer AquagraFX 680 NICKEL)
- A backplate for the 680 (EVGA one is good biggrin.gif)
- Another res of the same kind for epeen purposes (Aqualis Pro)

With that, I'd like to wrap up update #3 smile.gif Cheers, thanks for reading, even more thanks for commenting, and hope to see ya next time round

That also ends the copy and pasting, from now on all my updates will be proper haha

Love to see comments and criticisms alike smile.gif

Quote:
Me:yes smile.gif
anyway
i would like to know
if I can get an ETA
of when I can expect the order to arrive to me
because on a forum some people who have ordered the same item as me
have already received an estimated date of June 3rd
for their order
Sheetal:This item is currently out of stock , however the Estimated Delivery Date: Tuesday, June 4, 2013.
Me:Is this delivery date for me in Australia?
Sheetal:Yes,
Me:ahhh
so I can expect to receive it by June 4th
Sheetal:The item isn't in stock for us so that we can expedite it and that's the reason for it.
Me:oh ok smile.gif
I see smile.gif
well, thanks Sheetal smile.gif
Sheetal:You're most welcome smile.gif Sorry for any inconvenience caused to you. If you will not get it until June 4, please contact us and we will waive off the shipping charges.
Me:yes, I will keep that in mind smile.gif
Sheetal:Sure smile.gif
