I am from Upland, Pennsylvania, USA.

If I were to win the rig, it sure would make for an awesome start to my racing simulator build that I have in the pipeline. I wanna go all out with it and be able to turn it into a cockpit setup with 3 monitors and all. I have the G27, racing seat and one of the monitors. I just need to get a dedicated racing rig, build the frame and weld it up at work, then get 2 more monitors and I would be golden. This would definitely go a long way into being able to accomplish that goal. Thank you very much for this opportunity by the way. VERY VERY VERY generous and I am sure the prizes you are providing are gonna make some people extremely happy.

Well first off I'm from Illinois, USA.

I'm not really one for stories but here is my little story about the first time I tried to build a computer. This was back in the day of the P4's and like most others I thought intel had the best cpu's (obviously didn't know anything about AMD at the time) so I chose a P4 and a socket 478 board. After I received all of the components I started putting my rig together. It consisted of a 3.2ghz P4, 2gb ddr ram, ATI x850xt PE agp video card, and an asus mobo that I can't remember right now. So basically I put everything together and hit the power button and there was this nice flash/spark and the system didn't turn on. Well it turned out that I screwed the motherboard directly into the case without the spacers and there went my brand new motherboard/first rig up in smoke. Luckily it was replaced for free at microcenter.

The reason I want this rig is because mostly because I've never had a water cooled setup and I really want to set one up. Also more oomph in the graphics department would be nice for BF3/BF4 because this gtx 570 isn't going to cut it forever and I would like to upgrade my 1080p monitor for something 1440p+ in the future.

As for my entries at this time (I hope I calculated this correctly):
rep: 109 = 10
2 years on OCN = 4
posts 1802 = 15

Total = 19

Oh and I'm in for everything but the laptop memory as that is the only thing I have no use for.

Well I would like to win as I currently am trying to do a build log and do not have enough money to complete the water loop and even once it is finished the specs will still be pretty poor. With the help of this I could greatly increase the soecs of rig and finish it much quicker than planned. Thanks for the chance to win.

Oh my has that monitor got me all hot and heavy. Looks like I don't have any entries at all, but maybe I'll have at least one by the end. Good luck to everyone, though!

If I do win, it'd just be for that amazing monitor. I've been using a 19" Dell TN panel for the past 6 years, and it is definitely overdue for an upgrade. That's my story.

P.S. I'm from Canada just in case I meet the minimum reqs.

From New Jersey, U.S. here.

Currently running an old P4 system because I gave my good rig with my 2500k and 670 4GB to my family while I go to town on upgrading/modding the heck out of their PC. Would love to win the backup system I could then just let them keep my rig and use that as a permanent rig while I do whatever with the P4 system. I'd also like to say thanks for doing this for the community, it's an awesome gesture of goodwill.

The other day I was on OCN. I am giving away multiple items in my collection that are taking up space. Here's what I'm giving away:

My backup rig. That's the tower part of it. So no monitor, keyboard, mouse, or any peripherals. Just the CPU, GPU, PSU, etc. The internals plus the case. ALSO I will include the full watercooling setup for this. The CPU Block, Pump, Res, Rads, and 2 x Watercool Heatkiller 680 Full-Coverage GPU Blocks with the Backplates and the Heatkiller SLi Bridge. You can choose to watercool it or not. If I find some tubing or anything else that'll go with this I'll throw it in as well. biggrin.gif I'll also fresh install whatever OS you want so it's ready out of the box(es) for you.
The Samsung SA950 monitor. wink.gif
An NZXT Phantom 820 Matte Black Case.
Some Kingston HyperX 1866Mhz RAM and SAMSUNG Golden OC RAM. To help bring your laptop and desktop up to speed. Some people might not care for this but it's free RAM that's decent quality. I hope someone enjoys it.
CD Keys from the AMD Never Settle Bundle. I don't know what all it entails but I think it's Tomb Raider, FC3 Blood Dragon, Bioshock Infinite, etc. Thanks to Baku for these. I may have to draw twice for this as I think I have a set sitting around too.
A 6th mystery prize awarded to the best post. This is just to keep things lively and introduce a fun factor for newer members that might not have as many entries as say Lord Xeb.... lol

Wow - great competition. I love how this is structured!

Okay, first of all, a story:

Once upon a time, there was a show. It was a fantastic show, with a motley crew of a practically perfect cast. They soared through the sky in a shiny ship, taking jobs and work where they could. Through thick and thin, they stuck together, fighting for each other, but not refraining from humiliating each other. They all had a deep respect for their captain, a veteran and practicing space-cowboy. After 14 glorious episodes, the show was cancelled by evil, evil Foxy ninjas, stunning the huge fan-base. However, over the next 11 years, that fan-base has not shrunk. Rather, it has grown many, many times over. The shiny fans are a driving force, filling up Comic-Cons time and time again, making you question why the show isn't brought back for a second season? The fans were given one last sliver of glory, though - a film was commissioned several years after the ninja raid, and despite not being what we all hoped and dreamed, it offered some rushed condolence for our open, gaping wounds that Fox(y ninjas) cut into our souls. Oh, cry baby cry - make your mother sigh...

By my count, I should have 10 entries; 8 from my posts, 2 from my rep, and none for my account age. I am not sure what I am entering for. I have a pretty moderate monitor, right now, but it works. My rig isn't as good as the backup you have, but it is still really nice. I have always done aircooling, and would love to try watercooling, so I suppose I am in for prize 3. Or prize 1... No - I there are people with much worse rigs than mine. Okay - in for watercooling smile.gif

Your backup rig should be called Guy Fawkes, an ode to always having a backup plan, and for eternal remembrance (a giveaway of this size deserves it.) Also, I ride a unicycle, play the alto saxophone, and hike/run barefoot. Is that sufficient for an entry? smile.gif

Forgot to mention I'm in Kentucky smile.gif

Originally from Wisconsin but I've been in Las Vegas for nearly 20 years now.

I'm no good with stories either, but whatever is given to me, I would definitely take care of it. If I won the system on here, I'd take that and my wife could have my build (which is no slouch either, lol), we'd both be doing better to play any game out there without much issue. Her PC is far overdue for upgrades. The best thing she has in it is a GTX460, but the other specs are an AMD x2 5800+ (Windsor) CPU, 3GB DDR2 and some generic motherboard. It was an HP pre-built system so you get the idea. Other than the 500w PSU and GPU, nothing else was upgraded in it. She loves to play games, usually simple one's for now, but I want her to get into others like some higher quality MMO's that she has trouble running on higher settings. The CPU is just a dual-core so it struggles in areas with lots of things going on, even just a PUG it can lag. That GTX460 helped a bit, but not quite as much as I thought.

I'm lucky to get what I have as income isn't very high. If anything, I should be buying new clothes, shoes, ya'know, stuff that really matters ? tongue.gif

If I don't win, no problem, like anyone else, I'll move on and be satisfied with what I/we have. I do plan on upgrading wife's build late in the year if needed, just depends on the funds we have at the time. wink.gif
post #130 of 301
Sitting here in Connecticut, US been here for most of my life now, hoping to change that soon and yah its under my avatar pic

For a story is that I'd use the rig (if I'm qualified that is lol) to have a second setup next to my current and get back into my LAN days with my friends. Haven't had a good sit down and play session that's lasted over 4 hours in well over 5 years, wouldn't mind 48 hours of nonsensical multiplayer action with a friend manning the second rig. If not the rig then the monitor would let me try out 3D for games and video production, and perhaps even allow me to see what all the fuss about 120hz is biggrin.gif . Heck even for the case I would make into a beastly office/server computer for the upstairs and redo a desk just because of it. Not sure if this qualifies as the story bit but oh wells tongue.gif

Anyways I best just say thanks for the excellent opportunity to win some of this awesome stuff for next to nothing and good luck to all
