STORY TIME:

I moved to Dacula, GA from New York about 7 years ago. I met a friend here who shared the same aspirations for computer stuff, and what ended up happenig was like a contest of computers. At the time, he had an i5-750 with a gtx 460, and I had a dual core Athlon with a HD 4670. I upgraded to an HD 5830 soon which was pretty fantastic at the time only to learn that my rig still fell short of his. To make it all worse, he up'd his card to a GTX 570. In retaliation, I scrapped my entire system and bought the 2500k with the HD 6950. Naturally he bought the GTX 680 to compete against me. This was during the gtx 680 shortage when all of the inventory was out of stock. I bought the alternative, gtx 670. Then that ***** got another 680 and the 3570k. The competition also extends to headphones, mice, keyboard, monitors, case, and essentially every other aspect of a computer that's too much to type out in detail. Unfortunately, my money splurging activities are going to be on halt for the next couple of years. It would be great to win anything as its still a hobby to me.

That was a horrible story mellowsmiley.gif.

Pfff, I know I don't have any great story like the rest of the guys here, but here goes nothing. I used to run a small folding/minecraft server rig with an i7-960 @ 4GHz, but my friends powersupply crapped out on him so its been down and out for quite a while now. If anything I were to win that wasn't a power supply or crazy expensive graphics card, then I'd give it to him so he can upgrade his Athlon II to something better. The only decent things in his rig is the TX750 I gave him and a GTX 460 he got for Christmas. I live in Minnesota.

Old Athlons lol. Socket 939 I think? I'm not the brightest about AMD.

Here's my story.
I've never been good with repetition, and i think this is why i have issues holding down a normal job. one thing i do tend to stick with, is random projects. these projects could be modding a console, computer, random electronics for aesthetics, cooling, or to have more functionality. I've been told i have a brilliant mind for coming up with ideas and solutions for the projects i dream up, while making them work and being at production level for even a prototype. I wouldn't disagree with that at all, i take great care into planning out a project. Not that a person would know that, i can pretty much see a problem and know right away how to fix it, change it, or design it. I am not however great at explaining or drawing out what it is that i have a plan for building. Maybe for someone that has the same creative brain, maybe they could envision my idea(s).
after reading your post i was pretty let down, i have been wanting to build my Girlfriend, whom i live with, a gaming and streaming computer. that system you have is a fantastic jump off to get cracking. then all i would need to do is mod the case, paint it pink, white, and fairytale pink . right now she just has a laptop, but the rules clearly state i need a blah computer. as you can see, the ivy build is in my sig rig. the idea for the gfs computer is also down there.
BUT, salvation at last, just about everything other than those games would work. I'm constantly running out of ram on this computer, i do a lot with my computer at one time so 8gb is just not enough. then we have the monitor, right now i'm using my 32" led samsung tv, its not ideal at all. games in 720p look pretty good but i'm loosing out on so much detail and on top of that its the only tv/monitor i have. so if someone wants to watch tv i have to be pulled away from my work or reading OCN. that 27" would be fantastic. i was just telling my girlfriend tonight that if i got a monitor it would be hard to go down to a smaller size just because i have gotten so used to 32". so that monitor would work great. to top that off, i could take my 32" tv and use it for what it was intended to be used for, tv.
The computer case, while i wouldnt turn it down, it wouldnt be my first choice. but if i end up not being able to build my computer into my desk then i'll need it put into something. i found an old scrap computer tower in my mothers junk, it doesnt have sides on it, squishes my graphics card fins and i'm pretty sure its from around 2000.
Right now i am using an H100, but have been wanting an actual loop. mostly because i want to cool more than just my cpu. that would be a huge leap into getting me on the right track.
in short, any one of these items would help me out vastly.
