FYI Dell's tech support is literally less capable then some who is mentally handicapped. I say this after my boss tried to inquire about replacement parts for and LED laptop, they told him to buy a new inverter..... if you know any thing about the basics of electricity you immediately know whats wrong with that statement. He told me he regrets not asking for the part number.

Yeah. That's a real PITA. What's Dell asking for?

I know quite a lot about electronics and electromagnetism, and I have no clue what you are saying... There is no such thing as an "LED laptop;" there are laptops with LED displays, but the laptops themselves run off of DC power from their power supply... What exactly is your point?

riahc3, where did you buy from? When I needed my Dell monitor replaced I simply talked to customer support and they transferred the ownership from Newegg to me in literally 2 minutes.

They should be able to transfer ownership simply based on the service tag number on the back; that is the only number I gave them.

Online store? Amazon, eBay.....? Just curious what online store specifically as others buying from such vendor knows of possible issues of transfer of ownership. A two way street from vendor to etailers to consumers.

From Newegg it took them 2 mins with me on hold for a transfer of Ownership. Just like that they were able to process a replacement quick, which ended up working beautifully.

I spoke with rep on the phone.

I'm not going to say I told you so or anything, but you really should have done your own research rather than listening to random forum posters on the internet for advice. All the falsehoods in this thread could have been found out with a few minutes of google. Now you find out the hard way.

I still wish you the best of luck getting things resolved.

* All customers who purchased either the 27" or 30" Dell monitors should go to this site and register the monitor Service Tag number in your name
* 24" and smaller monitors do not get a Dell Service Tag number. Since you purchased this monitor from a non-Dell store, you must follow these steps below
* Contact Dell Order Support for your country. They will need to contact the Dell Tag Team through internal Chat while you are on the phone with them Provide the following information to the Order Support representative so they can feed the data to the Dell Tag Team -
Brick or Online Store =
Purchase date =
Monitor Model =
Monitor Part number =
Monitor 20 digit PPID alpha-numeric number =
[Your]
Email =
Name =
Shipping Address =
Phone =
* The Tag Team will then create a unique Dell Order number tying you to the monitor PPID number

That's from the dell site.
