Trying to Overclock Kingston HyperX red RAM -- failing miserably - Page 2

So, I spoke to a freidn and he mentioned setting it to XMP mode and trying then.

Worked!!!. I let me overclock it. I only got up to 1950MHz range lol... but at least i can overclock now.

I'm actually about to open another thread though.. b/c now the issue i've noticed is that my mobo isnt using the full 32GB of ram i have installed. It recognizes that the full 4 x 8GB sticks are present and connnected... and by troubleshooting one by one i know they all work perfectly... but the memory controller on the 3930K isnt using all of it!!! ahhhh!!!

apparently this is a normal issue with i73930K + ASUS Rampage mobo's. My buddy said he's run into it about 8-9 times and can never solve it reliably. i'm about to get a new mobo frown.gif

It must have started after I switched i7s. I had a 3820 installed and this mobo read the full amount of ram just fine. The i7 was installed last week, and I just noticed the ram issue yesterday bc I haven't been on the computer much.

Tried all voltage changes I could think of n nothing worked. Gonna try reseating and making sure the heatsink isn't on too tight. If that doesn't work, thinking of getting a gigabyte board

I've overclocked my 1600Mhz Vengeance memorys to 2133Mhz without any problems.

Could get it stable at 1.65V and 10-12-11-31-2T timings.

Maybe i'll try to tighten the timings a bit but it works as it is right now smile.gif

This was done on both a Asus Z68 motherboard and my current Sabertooth Z77 board without problems.

^very nice. wondering if i should've went w/ vengeance lol. it was between that and the kinston when i purchased... money was the deciding factor though... it was a $40 difference for the Kingston.
