I don't quite understand the ignorance here and it's not just you, it's most of the website in general.

Lucas destroyed his own creation. Period, done, end, no argument...It's an absolute fact.

If something wasn't cannon under the guise of Lucas, it just didn't happen...

Like I said, the man alone, destroyed SWTOR...Was the sole reason behind SWG's failures...

There's even an entire movie about how bad Lucas was to his own brand BY HIS OWN FORMER STAFF.

This is quite frankly, the BEST thing that could have EVER happened to Star Wars and I don't understand what the issue is with Disney?

They have the best sound guys on the planet...The most advanced design studio on the planet...Their special effects department is unrivaled in their industry...and yet, the vast majority of you are trashing this?

Meme /facepalm big enough there is not to show disappointment.

LOL...I don't think any one at EA even knows the term "Expansion" anymore...you mean to say it will just have ten DLCs.

I agree...I am actually looking forward to some movies and games with a Star Wars theme now. I still have never seen Episode 3 because after the first two I refuse to go out of my way to watch it if I see it on TV or see a Stream available of it I will probably watch it, but I am not wasting a spot on my by mail queue on Netflix for it. As for a game...I don't think I've played one since Knights of the Old Republic. Why? because they've been mediocre at best since then.

What could Disney do that could make things any worse? Honestly the best Star Wars you can find these days is probably in those Clone Wars cartoons meant for kids. Heh, or Lego star wars.

A Star Wars game like Fallout or Skyrim would be amazing.

There is just so much meterial and an incredible fan base, yet this never happened.

And that's part of the problem. Trying to navigate the different "levels" of Star Wars lore is absurdly difficult to learn. Not to mention there are some outright contradictions that you have to refer to this hierarchy to resolve.

Its all actually fairly cohesive and straight forward for such a large body of fiction written by countless people often with little or no collaboration.

Most of the contradictions and continuity errors are fairly minor and can just be glossed over. The bigger ones typically reside in areas most people would consider non-cannon anyway (such as those silly cartoons).

That said, new additions to the franchise (be they books, games, movies, etc) are not always in chronological order, and do not always follow the same characters. This is probably what trips up most new members of the audience, who are not yet familiar with this fact. It creates a phenomenon similar to how history books get rewritten as new discoveries are made. Some might criticize this phenomenon, but after all, the events in "Star Wars" take place "A long time ago in a galaxy far far away" wink.gif

I agree with the Disney perspective as that pertains to Films.

The EA part is circumspect. I hope they will make a decent new IP that they can then ruin by milking excessively... (sorta like COD) The only hope is if they realize they need good starting materials to build a good sales base for further iterations. However, I feel it's more likely for them to cash in on the established Star Wars fans and produce meh material from the start. Sorta like pulling a D3, but with all the Star Wars fans. Publish a turd, dressed as Han Solo, then bury it alive. rolleyes.gif
