I have knowledge that I won't put on OCN but, there have already been some major changes internally.

I direct your attention particularly, after the comma.

Many people have already "lost" their jobs whom were masterminds behind the current DRM system...So it's not quite a situation of the stock holders, which, I so happen to have quite a bit of EA stock but, it's more/less a situation of it already happened shortly following him being appointed. thumb.gif

Disney would only give EA the contract barring certain...Stipulations...Since other companies were also after the contracts.

What you have now are 3/4 design studios capable of producing a pretty awesome Star Wars game...Dice is very capable, Bioware is very capable but, they're full on with the changes currently being made to SWTOR...There really is a world of possibility.

The changes I referred to in Sim City are mostly that of the staff. You'll come to find out in time that the "draconian" individuals you spoke of, may no longer be present in the grand scheme of things. thumb.gif

Agreed. I'm simply saying there's been some major restructuring and I will hold my judgement. You may do as you please but, I will wait and see what happens.

I also consider Battlefield 3 very well done including the expansion packs...The amount of content added actually was more content/cost then what they used to charge -- Especially with inflation but, it seems that many people like to forget that fact.

I miss the days when everyone hated Activision.. They deserve all the hate with all the shovelware they put out along with horrible business practices. At least EA puts out some pretty decent games.

I saw it, as I see no reason to believe any of these internal changes will be effective. I have no faith that he can make the changes necessary to get the company to a good place with consumers. Satisfy Disney? Sure that is a lot easier, they are in the same game of keeping all their assets under lock and key, they are just much better at it.

The stipulations Disney would offer would be to make the restraining bolts much prettier, happier, and not feel like restraining bolts, i.e. milk them for money, but don't make their udders hurt too much.

Even if they fired people, the end product is still there. It could take the effort of redesigning the entire server architecture and many aspects of the client before they would be able to salvage Sim City, which I doubt they will do.... Without it costing you $24.99 or more. Post catastrophe "restructuring" is purely damage control, you replace one name with another and give him the same instructions, you'll keep getting the same results.

I don't forget BF3, I just have the same rage for it as I had for CS 1.6. Add always on DRM and a central server which has to manage EVERY server for the game, and you will continue to have the troubles they are STILL having with people not being able to play. There is no incentive to attack a mere server list, when people have so many other ways to connect, there is every incentive to attack Origin. It's bad and even more invasive than steam, which boggles my mind.

It seems like you want to give them the benefit of the doubt, because you are obviously at least on the fringe associated with the company. Fine, your opinion is skewed. I'm looking at it as an outsider, a consumer, and an objective observer who sees no precedent for such a colossal change as would be required to actually fix EA.

EA bought every studio that put out a good game under EA. None of it was internal growth.

I'm just hoping EA will take 1313 and finish it, this game looked so promising.

You kidding? I still hate Activision. I just hate EA more.

Activision actually deserves some respect for managing keep it's core franchises alive despite their majority shareholder. Go look it up if you don't know what I mean.

EA meanwhile has earned all of my hate themselves, as opposed to Activision inheriting it from another company.

Haha, you know I honestly did not know Blizzard and Activision were owned by Vivendi.

No wonder Diablo 3 sucked so much, and was focused only on monetization of the item system. Doesn't surprise me trying to compete with that kind of a collosus that EA would copy so much of their model.

Like I said, the man alone, destroyed SWTOR...Was the sole reason behind SWG's failures...

There's even an entire movie about how bad Lucas was to his own brand BY HIS OWN FORMER STAFF.

This is quite frankly, the BEST thing that could have EVER happened to Star Wars and I don't understand what the issue is with Disney?

They have the best sound guys on the planet...The most advanced design studio on the planet...Their special effects department is unrivaled in their industry...and yet, the vast majority of you are trashing this?

Meme /facepalm big enough there is not to show disappointment.

Yes, all of this/\

The original trilogy is still amazing, but I will go so far as to say that KOTOR is the best Star Wars anything ever produced. It has all of the great stuff from the Trilogy with none of Lucas's mid-life insanity to be found. Also, I have to admit that I did like Republic Commando quite a bit and wish it had been longer, gotten a proper ending, and maybe a sequel.

Republic Commando was really a book series, not a game. Want a proper ending? Read the books!

Along similar lines, the greatest Star Wars creations to date are without doubt the Expanded Universe novels. They also happen to be the most overlooked - to the point where most people don't even know they exist. So sad.

If you liked KotOR, pick up Darth Bane: Path of Destruction or its Unabridged Audible Audio Edition if you are one of those new-fangled bibliophobic geeks who probably would have found a truer calling joining the football team than the robotics club, so to speak wink.gif
