I still have a playable copy of LOOM and Secret of Monkey Island, but for some reason the sound doesn't work. And for LOOM, thats a big part of the entire experience.

These won't appeal to a lot of people, but first is CaveStory, a combat platformer with a very nice story. Then there's Cortex Command a great game with somewhat spotty development progress but a lot of amazing mods and an engine that's easy to work with. Then there are all the roguelikes/games lacking user interfaces. First and foremost, Dwarf Fortress an amazingly complex game still in its early stages, with a very challenging user interface, but once you learn how to do stuff you can do really cool things and the random generation will produce some wacky results (See Cacame Awemedinade, Tholtig Cryptbrain, Sea Serpent Farming, and more magma than anyone is willing to admit). Other games that I've liked that probably won't appeal to many people include Aurora 4X, an incredibly detailed and complex space sim, Cataclysm, a zombie survival ASCII game with a unique (And awesome) vehicle construction system, still under heavy development by the community even thought the original dev left. There are hundreds of other games like these with fantastic attention to detail but much (much) less attention to graphics, and you can find a lot on Temple of the Roguelike forums/wiki.http://forums.roguetemple.com/
