[Official] Metro: Last Light Information & Discussion Thread - Page 17

Few things I'd like to say about the game. First the engine is greatly optimized, much better than with Metro 2033. I have game completely maxed out @1080p with no SMAA (not even needed, can't find a single jaggy) and Advanced PhysX enabled. I am averaging 45 fps according to benchmark with a single overclocked 670 (1270-80 core 7000 memory). Game feels very fluent and buttery smooth, definitely averaging more than 45fps in most areas. Very happy with nVidia's work with this game. Was worried I would need to pick up a second 670 for it, and as I've been discovering with every single title that has been released my single flashed 670 has been taking care of business.

Now to the game. Game is by far much better than Metro 2033. I had a hard time enjoying Metro 2033. I got bored quite easily with it, I thought as far as gameplay went; that it was actually a pretty bad game. Which is why I had reservations about playing Last Light. Didn't want the same rehashed boring game. Last Light however is much more enjoyable, gameplay is great, and I find it very immersible. Will say though that I believe 2033 was much harder. Even with this game on Hardcore, it's pretty easy. Wish there was a harder mode (for free I may add) because the game is very easy. The AI is pretty predictable, and it pretty much seems that a timed shotgun can take care of everything. redface.gif

Aside from the simplistic AI, I'm pretty pleased with this game. There hasn't been a game in a while that I was able to play through for a decent amount of time. At first I thought the game of the year would have been Tomb Raider, but now I'm unsure because this game has me playing through for a decent amount of hours. Which most single player games (even the best ones; Farcry 3, Crysis 3, Bioshock:Infinite, Hitman Absolution, etc.) I can only play a few hours at a time before I have to call it the quits because of losing interest in it.

One could argue that pong is the most in depth game of all time, and you could agree with them, but then you'd both be wrong.

You have your opinion and I have mine, why trying to prove to me that you are right? Metro is in my Top 3 series for sure and I will be playing it more than once, just because you are not going to that dosent mean others will not find it enjoyable.

I dont understand what you are trying to achieve with your trash talk

You have a beefy GPU then. I get 41 with a 680.
Tesselation normal. But apparently benchmark says not supported? Lulz

Great looking game. But they should have FXAA as optional and not on by default. There is no way to disable it either. It makes the game looks so blurry. They need to hurry up with the FOV patch too.

I tried the game in DX9 I now have 70 FPS where I had 20 in DX11, but for some reason I am getting stuttering every 5 seconds or so when in DX9 mode

Why does my obvious sarcasm continue to fly right over your head? He stated that he has a 670 which is getting better fps than your 680.

That's right it does, and without SSAA or forcing other AA there are jaggies everywhere. And it's pretty obvious that if he's avg 45fps he's not using ssaa.

Guys it turns out that I was in DX9 the whole time, so I ran it in DX11 and holy crap what amazing difference in performance boost, usually above 50FPS@1440p, I see 60s and 70s more if anything. I'll see how SSAAx2 would work out.

I saw no jagged edge in the game and Im not using SSAA.
