Frankly I dont see how people think this one is better optimised then 2033. Maybe for single csrds but multi-gpu systems have much lower GPU utilisation percentages and much worst scaling than the original. 2033 had near perfect linear scaling across multi GPU systems. So if you added another card you practically got 100% increase in FPS. Definitely not so with this one. Strange, considering this is the same engine. I hope this has something to do with the sli compatibility bits and the drivers as opposed to heavy CPU utilisation in the core engine. The latter isn't fixable.
Do you have an AMD card? There´s a new patch that apparently fixes many AMD issues.
I can say 2033´s achilles heel was the advanced DOF feature. It destroyed the FPS. If you disabled DOF, the game ran super fine.
I´ve had no issues with LL at all. Granted I´m using SLI TITANs. Only seeing people complaining about FPS drops with SSAA turned on, and apparently most of them don´t even know what SSAA means, and how heavy on the FPS department it naturally is.
SSAA is the new trend, it seems, implemented to bring top PCs to their knees, and just to please the geeks that MUST run "maxed out" games, even @ 30-40 average FPS.
