Or architecture improvements, which could boost both performance and efficiency. Remember that the 7xxx series is still the first implementation of GCN, so there's probably a lot to gain with tweaks. You're putting a bit too much stock in Kepler, IMO.

Yes and there has been no mention since and no clarification considering rumors are saying they've skipped it. Where are the OEM 8970, 8950, 8870, etc? I could see them skipping it. It seems they've either had a delay or skipped it because you'd think it would've came before the 700 series.
