[Chiphell] AMD Volcanic Island chip design leak and specs? - Page 41

About the same as the Titan, benchmarks put it anywhere between 30-40% quicker than a GHz edition.

a 35% increase or factor g=1.35 would make the HD8970 fall between the GTX780 and the Titan that is pretty neat especially if it comes with non gimped computing and 6GB of mem biggrin.gif
If this is all true we see Titan performance sooner guess that will make Nvidia release non greenlight non reference GTX780 which would rock.
Either way win/win for consumers if true.

vs HD7970GHz +35%

This thing would beat Titan if true. And doing so with a 420mm2 chip would be awesome.

How? It states 35% faster than a 7970, which is exactly where the Titan sits?

Guess he is going by the Tflop figure which is just a little over what Titan does.
as I just said less gimped on computing.

780 is 20% faster than 7970, that one I know. Titan is like 10% faster than 780

I dunno I fell rubbed the wrong way with the pricing of the titan and release of the 780, if this is priced cheaper then the 780 and has about the same performance of the Titan, I might do a 2way or 3way CFX setup with some 8970's!!

Fixed drivers around that same time so MOAR POWER TO YA!
Besides frame metering hardware might be on the HD8970 wink.gif

780:
Shaders: 2,304
TMU: 192
ROP: 48

9970:
Shaders: 2,304
TMU: 144
ROP: 48

Titan:
Shaders: 2,688
TMU: 224
ROP: 48

7970:
Shaders: 2,048
TMU: 128
ROP: 32

It will perform similarly to the 780 while having twice the amount of vram and cost $50 less if the chiphell specs are true.

Curacao XT

So if this come earlier during the summer, I think we will see Volcanic Island next year in Maxwell time.
