Well that is most certainly one of the reasons, but honestly even if I paid full retail I would probably do it. The temperature difference is far too great and I want at least 5 ghz 24/7 if possible. Delidding it is one of the first steps into that goal imo.

Would have probably been smarter of me to try the cpu first before doing it though. I feel confident in my delid but I guess you never know sometimes with electronics. Part of me is scared the cpu could have came in DOA. Can't say I've ever heard of that before though with recent cpus.

Either way I'm going to try to stay ambitious and optimistic for this chip. The batch number seems promising.

I hear ya, but as far as electronics go, I have had stuff that has died after a day, and things that should not still be working work perfectly well beyond their expected eol. But anyway, yeah you should definitely do some modding and let us know how it goes, I only wish I had known someone to get me a chip. Maybe next time though. I'm gonna go hang out at walmart and offer someone $100 profit for a cpu next time

Would intel do ups mail innovation? I did track by reference and it was too similar, order # 144851, May 24 processing date, going to my zip code, coincidence?
