Don't worry, I prefer the 90% success bomb detector over the 97-99% one. That's essentially it.

The ill-logic of some people of 'It doesn't detect it, therefore it's not there' is baffling.

The biggest thing really is zero-day stuff and well, MSE fails. Badly.

How many antivirus caught the nasty industrial virus intended for Iran nuclear plants.
None of them.
Sure they all appeared on their blogs with explanations about the certificate stealing and such ,but after ,

Antiviruses are useless against 0-day thats a truth. They are ok for the already launched ones.

So the fact that Microsoft failed against such things is nothing special as long as Microsoft also updates the flaws in the kernel or whatever fast.

The engine behind Essentials is old ,is the old RAV technology they ve bough in 2004 i think. Was top notch at that time ,but they need something new.
As most of the antivirus industry uses Bit Defender engine we may see it included in this one as well soon.

Combine it a back firewall topology with DMZs and massive lockdown policy wise within these programs and firewalls. Using password managers and random password generators as well. Almost forgot keystroke encryption as well via say Zemana,

I could easily make my system ultra lockdown, but that takes work and really, no need as I have all my sensitive data sorted security wise.

True paranoids don't use computers.

I don't use any AV software on my own computers and have never had a virus but I know what is and is not 'safe '. Superantispyware has always been the best at removal in my opinion, if it can't remove it I go straight to wipe and reinstall the OS. Sometimes I may have to do some manual removal, but SAS saves me a lot of time searching for bad files. MSE has a lot of 'fans' but I have had to remove viruses from quite a few PC's with it installed so I can't recommend it over Avast.

You're sure? I've caught a spammer with smilies pictures all over the OCN forums. Those pictures are infected and automatically load into your browser cache. My Avast stopped and alerted it + I reported it to the moderators.

The mods done an excellent job on removing those posts made by the spammer + virus. Then the spammer made another account. My avast alerts me again.

This was few days ago.

Are you for real ?!

Paid, and yes I'm for real. My 2 year subscription started popping up ads on my desktop to advertise it's products not even a year into the subscription. It is adware by definition and was removed immediately.

BitDefender was causes problem on my computer. I had to removed it and ask for refunds.

I just use the default defender on WIn8 and haven't had any issues since last November. On Win7 I used MSE for a long time and never had any issues. Of course I don't really worry much about viruses and malware because I have a habit of doing fresh installs fairly often...

Bad example as that was delivered via infected USB. Kaspersky uses their own engine.

Dude, 5 minutes of download and install. Honestly how hard is it?

I had to drop BitDefender because they have this stupidly annoying bug on Chrome and/or Windows 8 where you start viewing a flash video, then close the browser, and somehow BitDefender causes Chrome to download the whole flash video despite closing Chrome.

I dont get how people are complaining about bitdefender when I've had it for 5 months now and not a single problem.
