Yes, they aren't the easiest boards to work with, but that's just because they offer sooo many option. However, they are the best for AMD, while ASUS rules for Intel right now.

Ok, I have an DFI board for Intel, but I would not recommend it, since this one is indeed a nightmare to work with, and lacks some stuff I would like to have, like the option to change the CPU multi (downward of course), and more RAM settings.
DFI has new BIOS out for the Infinity 975X

SLI is a method of nVidia to run two video cards at the same time, increasing performance.

I highly recommend the Asus P5B Deluxe for your rig.... it's better than the eVGA 680i. If $183 is too expensive, get the Gigabye P965 S3 I recommended earlier for $125, which is still a good board.

That WD 250GB drive is a very good one! I have four of those myself

Zytek_Fan: I am running the October 26th one... let me check if there is even a newer one. Thank you. The board is still not easy to tame... LOL

EDIT: That's the newest... I will redo everything again when I get a new one (had to RMA it... was messin' around with the BIOS... trying older one... screwed up flashing it... oh well... new board will be here tomorrow)

That's looking good! Nice rig now.

If you can get your hands on Vista, by all means, give it a try. You might have a few issues with drivers and the fact that Vista is new (and thus a bit buggy perhaps). Otherwise, get XP.

What would be the best to upgrade first if I could convidnece my mom to give me my christmas present early. What would be the best XP system or should I wait for Vista? All I want is the computer built buy the 25th. It doesn't have to be running by then Just together. or I might do it on Christmas break

Yep. I have seen at various sites that they had a decrease in performance in games while using a DX9.0c video card. Strange, but reasonable since Vista is supposed to run DX9.0L
