You have no proof these findings are false. I have been doing this quite a long time and have found that rumors of this magnitude this close to launch tend to be on the true side. Im not saying its 100% factual, I cant untill we see more tests done. However its probably a good indication of how it will be.

Those benchmarks contradicts with benchmarks from other source.
http://www.overclock.net/t/1385703/wcc-i7-4770k-vs-core-i7-3770k-benchmarks-leaked

One shows i7 4770K scoring 8.55 in cinebench 11.5, while the other shows it scoring 7.82 which is slightly below 3770K. Why you would believe the one that has 7.82 scores but the not other ?

Also, tom's hardware previews shows i7 4770K performing better than i7 3770K in all cases (though they did not use superPi or cinebench in their tests). I find it hard to believe that 4770K would perform slower than 3770K.

4.5 But the worrying part is the fail of OpenGl benchmark.

look at it looks like a truck ran it over all scratched up and big rub marks,if u cant see that thats a problem i got some other slightly used stuff to sell ya

Why would failing the OpenGL benchmark be a problem?  Is there any indication that the CPU was the reason it failed (I can't access the source at work)?

hmmm, that would explain that chip being unstable when OC'd.

8.55 in one leak, and 7.82 in the other ( lower than IB ), that's a big discrepancy between the 2, AND almost a 10% difference.

After seeing the chip especially.

I'm leaning towards this one being closer to reality.

In Tom's preview, the 4770K was slightly ahead in everything.

I kinda wonder if it's not that Tom's chip after 30 benchmarkers had its way with him.

As it is they're completely "out of the enthusiast" market by their own admission. This is why SB-E and IB-E are 6 core chips with 2 cores disabled.

It's not just bad for AMD. It's bad for consumer. You know. You and I?
Steamroller would have to steamroll every chip in this architecture including Haswell to make the market competitive. They'd have to do it at a reasonable power draw and heat production and I just don't see that happening unfortunately. But hey, I can always hope I am wrong.

I have no idea what you are talking about.

What competitivity are you talking about exactly?
It s all about the PRICE.
AMD is delivering excellent prices as we speak.

When AMD released the super mighty dual cores i could not touch one due to the price and i have upgraded to a X2 6400 when the price was close to a "normal" level (and AMD close to bankrupsy smile.gif ) ,as i was not searching to buy rockets and send them to the moon.
Those 40% Windows XP users left might be the next AMD buyers ,they are people that like value.

If AMD gets the new CPU-s to good you wont be able to touch one price wise at 1000 dollars and guess what Intel will sell theirs at 999.

In my view there is competition when AMD is the underdog ,but the AMD CPU-s have to be close in performance ,much closer than now
A situation like the one in 2003 would be good for customers.

I have bought an Ahtlon XP based PC because i could afford it .
The performance of that 1700+ that i bought was GOOD ENOUGH as AMD is preaching now.
That system was much cheaper than a Pentium based that was in trend then ,but you know what ... it could run anything out there , I COULD PLAY all games pumped on the market since 2002 (and prior) to 2005 with no issues.
And the TNT 2 that i had was also doing a great job.
Furthermore that CPU was able to be perfect for web surfing till 2009 when i ve sold it.

Haswell won t matter neither for Intel and neither for AMD.
It s some kind of prototype.
They need to make another generation for this one to be ok even for you ,the Intel buyers

AMD fanboys will laugh to death on this one as Intel fans did with the first AMD FX .

Just get used to the fact it s a half baked generation chip and it has nothing to do with AMD ,it s just that they ve reached the manufacturing limits.
Intel will die by it s own hand and this may be the first step.

THAT SAID, I still expect Haswell to be 10-15% faster than the IB. So i'm not buying these rumors.

Agreed. But its funny that AMD gets so much hate on OCN considering they are doing exactly what you just said Intel is going after. AMD has slowed their row, and been focusing on servers, and mobility platform. We are a nich, and in several years probably a dead one too. So my point being people need to understand AMD is not fail because they don't have the mass money to also worry about the small niche like Intel has been doing.

Anyways back OT, if it is a ~10% increase its a success IMO, however if the OC head room has been cut of at the knees, then it will be a huge waste of money for us enthusiasts because all one would have to do is OC their sandy or IV to equal the performance. Hence my negative tone towards the alleged issue. Its not one hard to believe either considering the negative rumors surrounding Ivy's heat pre-release that turned out to be true.
