I need a camera for the family ~$250

Thread Starter
So a cousin of mine needs a camera for his family and he wanted it to be a great camera in the dark too!
as the title states he is welling to pay around the $250 mark, also no DSLRs as he wants it to be easy to use and small&compact

I have found these two cameras:
1-Canon PowerShot SX260 HS

2-Fujifilm FinePix F750EXR

So are these the best cameras for the price or are there any better?

I don't know a whole lot about camera's but the Fuji does have a bit larger sensor which is good. And $80 cheaper.

Those two cameras you suggested were quite good in low light situations but with the flash, you would want a lower f-stop (the lower the number the more light goes into the camera) for a more decent looking low light photos. The cameras you suggested has an ok f-stop number (3.5) but I have one camera in mind that would suit your cousin's need.

A Nikon P7000

http://www.amazon.com/Nikon-Coolpix-Digital-Camera-Zoom-Nikkor/dp/B00427ZLRO/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1370853775&sr=1-1&keywords=nikon+p7000

Pros: Good low light performance (f-stop is 2.0), Bigger sensor (better quality photos), Manual controls, Good price ($240)
Cons: Not so pocketable, only has 10 mp instead 12mp(CanonSX260 HS)/ 16mp(Fuji), older camera, shoots 720p video instead of 1080p(Canon/Fuji)

Overall this is a good camera within your budget.

If you can push 50 dollars more into your budget, I HIGHLY SUGGEST the Canon S100

http://www.amazon.com/Canon-PowerShot-S100-Wide-Angle-Stabilized/dp/B005MTME3U/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1370854524&sr=1-1&keywords=Canon+S100

Has an overall better image quality than the P7000 and as good in low-light as the P7000. Has all the features of the P7000 has but has a better lens, better sensor, more megapixels, better video quality, more pocketable and more user friendly than the P7000.

Also, between the two you chose, I would choose the Canon. Although it has less megapixels it has a smaller form factor and delivers a sharper image than the Fuji (the fuji gets soft on the corners)

Hope this helps thumb.gif
