Can you share the part number for the controller? I think I want to do this ! I can piecemeal this instead of getting nagged to death by the wife for buying a whole monitor.
Type LVDS controller on ebay. It cost about 32-33$ with cables complete kit (controller + inverter + mini keyboard for changings monitor settings + cables, only without PSU but as I write before you can ower it directly from PSU molex connector
amazon.com is where i get a lot of laptop lcd replacements when i fix random peoples broke junk
you tend to spend around 70 - 120 for a 17"
never even dawned on me to make my own monitor out of them.
following this thread like a stalker!
nice work wonder if thiers anyway to remove the bezels to make it look exacty like 1 lcd if you could you probly could sell these on ebay for a good amount.
That is pretty sweet, was wondering if you could do that with most panels. We have a lot of 15" monitors that we have no use for and that would be pretty neat to put together.
beautifull. i feel this is how the future should go for consumers. i would pay an extra 20 percent just to be able to totally customize my setup and mix and match.
glossy matte height adjust size ratio dpi tn va ips backlight strobing ...etc to each his own. next monitor i'm looking to do some DIY as well. hope i dont get lazy
has to be one of the coolest and cheapest DIY's I have ever seen!! If you could make a detailed post on the parts, etc., construction methods it would be epic.

If you remove the metal bezels, what you will see underneath that is the plastic tray that holds the LED's and the panel in place, so in effect it's another bezel. You don't gain very much from that. Not to mention that the actual display itself doesn't display out to the edges. There is a keep-out zone all around the perimeter of the viewable space. So even if you could debezel and PCB's attached to the panel and just put those together, you would still see a gap between displays.
So I'm trying to do a similar build and I"ve hooked everything up but I only get a grey screen. I've tried this with all three displays and two different models of controller board. It's getting power but it just refuses to put out any video. It's detected by the computer.
