Looking for a decent CPU cooler for no more then $40 USD - Page 7

I found a temporary solution, in terms of keeping it quieter... I had an old 80mm fan from ~2004 and set is as a pull fan on the side panel directly above the heatsink. I thought it would be loud, but surprisingly not. Haven't checked my temps yet though.

If you're going to watercool, then at least do it right.

http://www.overclockersclub.com/reviews/cm_hyper212_evo/4.htm

It really is the best bang for the buck, considering you can pick it up for $25 fairly regularly.

Also, I have had my QX9650 up to 4GHz (33% overclock), and temps never got above low 70s, using the 212 Evo's little brother, the Plus.

In my mind, that means the 212 Evo is a much better value, and also, the h60 doesn't even fit the OP's criteria.

From all I've heard about your current chip and the 212 I would agree with what @DrBrogbo said.

Myself I would go with the 212 Evo or any other well recommended air cooler from brands like Thermalright or Phanteks with the same price range or within your desired budget.

This is the most sincere feedback that I've heard by an ower with the same chip as you that replaced the 212 Evo with a water cooler:

I wouldn't say killers. The T40 is slightly better (at load, but not idle oddly), and costs slightly more. The Fenrir Evo is better, but twice the price. Might as well just get the NH-D14 if you're spending that much on air.

When he ordered the evo, it was selling on Amazon for $25. The T40 is really only barely better. Your thermal compound application will have a bigger impact than choosing between 212/T40.

I'd honestly never heard of the Fenrir Evo before, actually. Where were you with these deals earlier? You've been in this discussion for pages now, and he already bought the 212.

Unless you're just trying to make a point now?
