HD 7850 CF with x16/x4 motherboard

Thread Starter
Hello,
I currently have 2 x HD 7850 (2GB) running in CrossFire on a ASUS P8Z77-V LX motherboard.
I play games like Battlefield 3, and I was wondering if there's a big difference between running these cards x16/x16 and x16/x4.
When these cards are OC'ed there's a lot of micro-stuttering.

Specs:

CPU: i5-3570K
PSU: Silver Power SP-SS850 850W PSU
GPU: 2 x HD 7850 (2 GB)
Your second 7850 is probably only bottlenecked by 3% or so. The stuttering is not because of the PCIe lanes, it is because of poor drivers. The best choice is to wait until June for the new drivers to (hopefully(but i hope not)) fix the stuttering issue on AMD Crossfire.

Not really. There is a bottleneck but nothing more than 5%.

It really only hurt on HD7950/HD7970/HD7990/670/680/690.

Second that. You wont be missing that much performance with cfx 7850s with that board.

Thank you. So it's not really worth buying a new motherboard?
Another question: Shouldn't I be able to run BF3 smoothly (1920 x 1080 @ ULTRA) with those cards + CPU?
I'm getting good FPS at ultra settings, but it looks like something lower...

Anyone?

Not worth spending $100+ bucks for about 3-8FPS is it? Think you should be able to max it out, maybe not all the MSAA x16

... Bought the second card to max it out.
Should I buy a GTX 680 instead? They go for ~$460 right now because of a 40% discount.
