[BGR] Google Abandons Work on X-Phone, Hands Off to Motorola - Page 4

Not sure what the point of this article is, Google has handed off a product to a subsidiary they own? Big deal.

I'll just leave this here.

Also applicable to basically every new high profile product these days.

I suppose it's just mainly the fact that most android users would like to see a phone cherry picked by google and designed with all of their philosophies in mind. I'm personally interested in it (and all the other unreleased phones) at this point because I want to get off the upgrade band wagon. I'm one of these people that have a current phone every single year and since I am about to be getting off my parents plan I wont have the option of stealing an upgrade every year. The next phone I get is going to be the one I use for a good long while.

It just sucks that Google says they are making a phone to their exact specifications and then you find out it isn't living up to their vision so they abandon it. That's the point of the article. For all the people who don't care and don't see the purpose for the article/thread. Then why continue to comment? Go be constructive else where.

I think you're confused. Let me make it easier to understand. Google sent "Phone-X" to Google. A part of Google who has traditionally made excellent phones (among other things). Nothing was abandoned.

I understand your point completely. I'm not against Motorola phones. I've owned several. My point is that I want Google to develop and produce their own phone. While moto is technically a Google owned company now the phone will not be all Google's. That's all I'm bummed out about.

google bought motorola because of patents to protect android vendors from apple and others. and as long as motorola is able to function on its own they probably dont care much about motorola. but i guess they did realize that they could get some synergy out of motorola

best

I generally enjoy his videos, so that was definitely funny. I found myself asking the 'what has actually been confirmed?' question when I first saw this thread.

There are two Android phones out there that are qwerty, and water/dust/shock proof. One is the Runbo X3, a super ruggedized phone with a 2-way radio. The other is what I have, the Motorola Defy Pro XT560 that was only released in Brazil and Canada, but recently international unlocked versions popped up on ebay.
