You can't try to discredit the software based on SKYMTLs post when the software is good enough to be used on HC. You put a lot of faith in the forum post, therefore their results should be valid and you should have faith in the testing method.

Even Peterson is saying that the interpretation of this data to people's experiences is subjective. He also says in the video this is meant to open a a discussion, and it is not the end all, be all. He also says that they will start sharing it with others, not that they already have. Other reviewers are just following the herd, as they know that Ryan has been working with Nvidia, so they don't want to look stupid by not saying anything at all. tongue.gif
How old is this tech compared to fraps, and how long did it take to realize that may just may be there is another dimension to this than fps. Peterson says its because of some executive pressure at Nvidia that they just started looking at it.
come on folks, let's keep it real. wait before making expert judgments as no one knows this tech better than Nvidia, especially not Pcper or any reviewer for that matter rolleyes.gif
If Peterson says the experience is subjective, and there are a lot of other things that we need to understand based on this data, I will take his word on it over anyone since he has the most reason to be biased.

There have been plenty of people who have claimed to see microstutter on Nvidia hardware as well (even the supposed microstutter-proof Kepler generation) so are they basically only utilizing one GPU as well or is it somehow just an AMD phenomenon? If you say yes then congratulations: You are officially a fanboy...

Not surprisingly it's written by Scott Wasson who also wrote the multi-GPU stuttering article back in Sept. 2011: http://techreport.com/review/21516/inside-the-second-a-new-look-at-game-benchmarking , http://techreport.com/news/21625/multi-gpu-micro-stuttering-captured-on-video

Also I fail to see how it's impossible to know how runts manifest in a normal situation. After all the reviewers have the ability to capture RAW output, to capture the exact footage that you will see.

First, Alatar, thanks for sharing the video, I watched the entire thing and I enjoyed it. I think it had a lot of great information on a topic that is very misunderstood, and hopefully helps drive research into the area forward.

Now, I can say this....

I was never one to get on the Micro-stutter bandwagon, I had traditionally stuck with a single GPU and things were pretty fine. Awhile back I added a second 7970 to my system, and immediately noticed stuttering and other issues with the overall quality of play in every game I had. Even though my frame rates were much higher on average and peak, it still looked slower and off, in some games I became motion sick.

In many games I actually disabled Crossfire, as I wasn't able to play them with the second card enabled. Even in the games that were 'playable' with Crossfire, they were still off, and didn't have the same level of smoothness as a single card, even though the frame rates were much higher. In the end I sold the second card, I found myself disabling it more often than using it.

So here we are now, having full length discussions on a topic that many of us denied the existence of, even though we knew something was off. Yet has been known by the manufacturers for several years, they just didn't have a willingness or way of getting it into public domain in a way the average person could understand.

Actually, he provided yet another independent confirmation of AMD's crossfire tech being broken.

That's far more useful than anything you've contributed in this thread, which has just been obnoxious repeated denials of evidence that paints your particular invested brand in an extremely negative light.

It's OK, as repeatedly denying facts from a multitude of sources (that are all nvidia fanboys that obviously have it out for AMD, of course) that are clear as day reflects far more poorly on you than your decision to purchase defective products.

Just got done playing TR3 again on hard mode and it was butter smooth till the end. I was looking for any sign of stuttering and I was disappointed that I did not experience it. This is really baffling to me but I'm thankful. I will report again when I get done with FC3 on hard mode.....

This is essentially what we are doing in this thread anyway. biggrin.gif

Sure.

Because the truth of the matter is they do all have issues. It's inherent to the technology they're using. It's like saying you' drive to work every day in a car without wheels. Cars have wheels. It's how they work. Just as how AMD Crossfire users have these issues, because it's how the technology works.

It's really that simple. And anyone that understands not just what's happening, but why it's happening will agree with that.

Far Cry 3 is so smooth as well on 13.5 beta 2 so far. Sigh, I don't get it. How do I look for stuttering?

Don't. You might find it and the be bothered by it all the time. Just like if you don't notice screen tearing (or bad texture filtering, or aliasing, or whatever) , don't go looking for it.

Would it capture it if I setup a hd video camera? How about record the game on fraps would that work?
