We don't know how 3 and 4 fire is working. At least I didn't see it tested with FCAT. But PCper and others have a lot of stuff to test and it will take time. We also didn't see how older nVidia cards perform in SLI. When they examine everything I am hoping we will get reviews for each new game when it's released so we will know if new drivers are needed. Only then I might consider CF/SLI, when we have all the facts. So I am guessing another 6 months.

But my guess is 4 cards ~ 2 cards on average. Pure speculation tho.

As someone who has a 7970, then two, now back to one......it isn't propaganda. AMD has serious crossfire issues, I have a post back on page 28 explaining more.

I had Titan in shipping box, in hand yesterday. I just couldn't do it. I set-up return RMA immediately. GTX 780 are going to make fools of Titan owners I know it.

In the meantime, my 670s are gone, my POS Asus Rampage Formula (formula for fail) is gone to RMA heaven. I'll be gaming on my budget back-up until 780.

780 is going to be slower than Titan for sure. Price/performance will be much better but so what? Those who bought Titans didn't care about that before, why should we care about that when the 780 comes out?

I know you're right. I wanted to be hard as f^&* about it. I couldn't do it. I am disappoint. If there's a 680, I know there's a 670 right behind it for 100 less. If there's a 7970...I know there's a 7950 for 100 less. And where there's a Titan.... there's an overclocked LE that matches it for $300 less.

You really need to stop recycling false claims. 4 cards do not equal two that's not how this works.

Back in the day when all GPUs had no frame metering the general consensus was that with crossfire and SLI the second card was what induced the perceivable frame time variances and the third card seemed to smooth it out and reduce it. Forth then had a negative effect also. which should give you an idea.

http://isiforums.net/f/showthread.php/6990-Micro-Stuttering-Due-To-2-GPUs-Add-A-3rd-Card!!!!!

Which was why so many HD 6990 users ran HD 6990 + HD 6970 setups. Myself included. Several review sites did reviews on it that all produced convincing data. Can't find the really good one HardOcp or maybe it was Canucks did but I found this one:

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-geforce-stutter-crossfire,2995-6.html#

There was also a tool that determined your frame time variance average and calculated your observed FPS off of the data you provided it with. Several people tested this and came back with very interesting results. All with un metered cards and none of them show crossfire or SLI producing the perfromance of a single card in SLI or crossfire. Tool is shown here:

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?258433-Microstutter-in-latest-gen-cards-examples-included&highlight=microstutter

People keep talking like this is new when it is not. PCPerspectives articles are not ground breaking or new at all. And this has been a big topic of discussion with results to back it up since as early as 2010. People have been discussing this for years.

Whether or not any of it was true and fraps was accurate enough. Who knows but a lot of people had convincing results. My own experiences included. Fraps might not be 100% but I think it paints a good enough picture to determine if there is an issue to further investigate with the more accurate FCAT and capture card tools available.

It has already been some what proven to a degree that the 780 is a cut down titan, so the chances are you just sent back a better performer.....
