First, I will introduce the Haswell processor overclocking that need to be brought to the attention of the one of the main points, we will see in the new Z87 motherboard BIOS Adjust CPU Base Clock Strap options, the role is to set the CPU FSB frequency division it 1.0/1.25/1.67 /2.5 four divided, the default read 1.0, and set the FSB file will directly affect the CPU FSB adjustable range. 100MHz FSB, for example, set 1.0 CPU 100MHz plus or minus about 10MHz frequency machine, FSB set 70MHz or 120MHz such exceeds the adjustable range of frequencies, the platform can not be lit up. Of course, to get a high FSB, must be set to 1.25 and 1.67 divided, at least 2.5 divide, which is set around 250MHz FSB can be described as non-existent OC FSB (the Intel IDF2013, open - open only to a maximum of 166 divider). Players can set different FSB file, try to match a variety of FSB * multiplier overclocking, playability is very strong.

However, we do not think that the higher the FSB, will rise with the overall performance of the platform. I do a test, 100MHz FSB * 40 octave, 125MHz FSB * 32 multiplier and 167MHz FSB * 24 octave three settings the CPU frequency over to 4GHz, the result is in the 100MHz FSB * 40 multiplier settings, test the Samsung bullion memory to DD3-2666MHz (10-12-12-35 107 1T) hard-Kai; 125MHz FSB * 32 multiplier settings, memory only DD3-2500MHz (10 - 1T) 12-12-35 107 hard-Kai; worse memory performance 167MHz FSB * 24 multiplier settings, hard reset only DDR3-2340MHz (11-13-13-40 217 2T). Conclusion: The higher the CPU FSB the memory overclock more decline. (Test motherboard at this stage is still in the stage of research and development, optimization bug Haswell processor overclocked new features, the site has Feedback manufacturers to perfect follow-up, we will follow up on this bug to solve the progress and results.)

FSB overclocking is back!

If the non-k CPUs have this, I think I know what my next upgrade will be...

Also, the memory overclocking/tweaking is heaven compared to what IB lets us do... after OC, I think we'll see a slightly bigger performance boost than the graphs are showing us.

Wasn't it comfirmed it wasn't the TIM but the way it was spaced with something like 0.06mm because of the glue they used. I've seen it somewhere i'm not crazy. That's why we where getting 20c diff while fixing it.

That is a very long and narrow die.  I was under the impression from the Intel slides that the IVR was going to be a separate chip on the package - but the only thing on there is a bunch of capacitors.

Excessive glue causing the temp problems?
I remember there was a post about too much glue so there's small gap between die and IHS.

Yes indeed. But only for processors that had a IHS/TIM related problem, because it didn't work for everyone.

Now wait for a delidded i7-4770R then you'll get more :-)

The only legal way to get these chips before release would be through NDA. If they didn't do NDA, they simply won't release early samples and we'll be in the dark anyways, but then we would have problems upon release, unless you want Intel to provide the bios for all the motherboards out there. rolleyes.gif

Some of the most recent rumors have at least several non-K models not have any BCLK overclocking (it's BCLK, not FSB). Besides, the BCLK overclocking is only similar to SB-E's overclocking straps, and SB-E's BCLK overclocking was limited to i7 models only, none of the Xeon models had them.
