I need some help for my case modding and wiring mess

hello,
i'm new to OC.net and love the site...so many helpful infos...but i need some help with my case....but first...a lil info about it...hehe...

history:
I just started building my comp 2 weeks ago and it was hella fun. I love opening tons of boxes and putting stuff together. This is my 3rd built. First and second it was for my friends, but the 3rd is mine to keep...mwahahaha...love it. I went from P4 1.6 ghz 512mb ram with intel graphic card....bought it back in 2001 when xp first came out...goes for 2 grand my system....back then it was zooming...now its like turtle on its back...rofl...anyh00 i upgraded it to 2gb ram and ati 9200 graphic card...so...it lasted me till now....i decided to play bf2142 but it was a lost cause...so i decided to build a new comp...

my new rig:
my initial budget was under 2k thinking since i work at frys electronic i could get some major discount...but instead newegg was the way to go....i still get some parts from frys though...like my sound card and zalman cooler...and some UV sata cable + light...all in all my final spending was 2.5 grand on this beast..well worth it...hehe...pricey.......bought everything from top to bottom....everything u could think of....i didnt buy a new speakers system though...mine old one is fine....i fell in love with my comp....i love it to death.... ...but as u can see the wiring are a bit messy...could anybody give me some suggestion of how to make it neater? imma buy some "Y" psu splitter to make 2 psu outlet from 1...that oughta save me some space...having w/o using many psu cables. Next is as u can see in the light pic...i got a cold cathode i wanna hook up but i dunno where........so....another suggestion wouldnt hurt...heheh....so any help would be greatly appreciated...=)

first, the fan wiring. try rotating the fans so the wiring comes off of the fans on the other side of the case. then try to zip tie them to the sides of the fans so they are not dangling out in the open. or even try to tuck them behind the mobo tray somewhere.

take all unused psu cables, and tie them up and tuck them somewhere either above the psu (if you have space) or behind the drive bays.

tuck your sata slack into that empty drive bay under your hdd's.

86 the bread bag twisty ties and pick up a bag of colored zip ties

coil up the slack from the front pannel wiring and zip it to the back side of the drive bays so all that you have exposed is what's needed.

basically, your best bet is to eliminate as much of your slack from the viewing area and tucking it somewhere hidden. some people have even cut plexi to fit the bottom of the case, then painted it and laid it over wiring at the bottom of the case. either way, it just takes some time and trial and error processing.

here's some examples:

the wiring i started for my son's rig (the green case) tonight, my desperate attempt at hiding it behind the drive bays. you can see how i tucked some of the wiring and ran it in the "channel" where the case side slides into. you can also see my wiring mess behind my drive bays. you can see where i stuffed my sata slack under my hdd's, ran the fan wiring on the other side of the fan and hid fan wiring under my sleeved psu cables.

also, i opted to use fans with the 3 pin connectors so i can connect them to my mobo rather than using large molex connectors.

hope that helps or gives you some ideas.

svtfmook said a mouthful, but a few more ideas:

-Try mounting your HD's in reverse, so that the cables are towards the front of the case.

-Run wires from behind the mobo, if possible.

-False floors, and sidewalls, are a more extreme, but effective possible solution. Check out Goby's build log for more info.

Hope that helps.

Yah Mounting your harddrives reverse is one thing I did in my once case and it looked sweet. your Hard drives look wireless. Basically if things are out of sight your good =D.

Rotating your fans so the wires come out closest to where they need to go helps. Twist ties are your best friend in this. Also try running wires behind your mobo tray and your drive bays because nobody sees back there anways. Last thing is don't be afraid to let wires take the long route if they reach. Run the through the corners or your casing or atleast on the edges =D

good luck mate!

your case fans. turn them so the wires come off the fan on the other side of the fan so they are not in the "foreground"

Yeah that is what I tend to do. This makes it easier to stuff or cable tie cables behind motherboard trays, unused drive bays and such.

Here is what I did with mine: http://www.overclock.net/gallery/sho...0/ppuser/21241
