Has anyone used this? Would this allow me to take my HD out of my dell laptop, connect it to that, and be able to access the hard drive, and such on my PC?

Looks like it would.... have you considered a null-modem or interface cable?

Something like this:

Based on this:

You would have to check compatability. Heck... if you were certain of the pinouts you could build one yourself (cheaply).

Hope this helps.

You could also connect the two computers with Cat 5 cables. If you have a router in your place, you could setup a network between the two machines and just share the contents of the laptop HD so you can copy everything over. Or you can connect the two directly with a crossover cable as well. Another option you can go for is getting an enclosure for the laptop HD. I'm not sure what you plan to do with the laptop HD, but you can get an enclosure for it and make it a nice little portable storage device. Unlike 3.5" enclosures, you won't need an external power source, making it much more convient than 3.5" drives. The product you linked looks like it should work as well.
