No. Reference cards are not made forever in perpetuity. It's actually unusual that they are just now drying up though I suppose that's because Tahiti has had such a long production run.

My new MSI R7970-2PMD3GD5 (ASIC 71%) arrived today, its same as R7970-2PMD3GD5/OC version.
Overclock way better than the Diamond (ASIC 77.5%) received last week both on air & second GPU in Xfire.

Diamond max 1225/1805 @ 1200 artifact when VRM above 65c
http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/6597950

MSI max 1275/1815 @ 1256 artifact when trying to go 1300 core, probably too hot...

All:

Yes, it is true that Diamond is advertising the promotion, but not sending codes with orders. This is for two reasons:

1) The NSR promo is executed through end retailers like Newegg, Amazon, TigerDirect, etc. It is not executed directly with our board partners like Diamond, except in the case of the 7990, where every board comes with an NSR coupon right in the product box.

2) Diamond obviously still wants to advertise that their products are eligible for the NSR promotion, but it seems they're a little unclear that you have to go to a third-party site like Newegg to get it.

This is clearly not malicious on their part. This is an unfortunate miscommunication if ever there was. There's good news, though:

According to Newegg, this is the list of 35 GPUs (as of 5/20) that qualify for the parts of the promotion they've chosen to run. So happens that a Diamond 7970 is on that list.

Remember folks: if it's not listed on www.amd.com/neversettlereloaded, you should not expect to get any sort of coupon when you buy the product. That's why we maintain the list for you guys! smile.gif

Thanks for the info! However, I contacted Newegg earlier today asking them specifically about that Diamond card and they told me this:

"Dear [My name],

Thank you for contacting Newegg.

We do apologize for this inconvenience. Since we are strictly a reseller of the parts and items we carry, we can only guarantee the information posted on our website. If there is a free game coupon for any item, we will post it on our webiste and it will also be added into your cart automatically. Thank you for your understanding.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please visit our FAQs page. If you still require any assistance, please feel free to reply directly to this email.

Thank you,

Katherine
Newegg Customer Service"

Sounds like there's some confusion somewhere, or maybe the person who responded just doesn't know what's going on. But I know that when you add any other 79X0 to your shopping cart, it also adds the game bundle as a separate item. This doesn't happen with the Diamond card only. Maybe it's because the card has been considered "discontinued" on Newegg for quite a while and has only been re-instated for a very short time so far and they need to updated it...

Thats what I was thinking...

Yeah, after I got that message from Diamond's Tech Support, I found that Newegg just got a batch in of the Diamond cards. So I ordered the 7970 card from Newegg yesterday, I should get it here either this week or next and ill let you know if I receive any codes. thumb.gif

Btw, I cancelled my order with Diamond since they stated they had no ETA on when I could get one from them.

So, I contacted Newegg today like you did Hollywood, however, I went through the Chat function and they provided a little bit more insight on the issue. Open the spoiler for the whole chat and also note that the full question I asked and referenced card is not mentioned through chat. Order hasn't shipped yet and I'll report back after I talk with them again after it is shipped.
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Daisy: Hi, my name is Daisy. How may I help you?
Me: Hi, I ordered a product from your website yesterday, but had a question about the promotion going on that concerns the card I bought.
Daisy: I am happy to assist you with that, Todd. May I please have a moment to look into this for you?
Me: Sure.
Daisy: Thank you for holding. Upon checking, I show that we do not offer any free game for the item# 14-103-201 you purchased. May I please have promotion link on our website?
Me: Sure, one second.
Daisy: Thank you. Take your time.
Me: http://promotions.newegg.com/nepro/13-1378/index.html
Me: If you go there and click on 7970's, the Diamond 7970 is on the list.
Me: Also it is stated that any 7970's are eligible on your site.
Daisy: Thank you for that information. May I please have a moment to look into this for you?
Me: Sure, take your time.
Daisy: Thank you for holding. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. I show that your order is processing now. Please kindly note that we are unable to send free game before the order is shipped out. I have left a note under your account. Please contact us back once this order is shipped out. Any of our agents will know how to handle it.
Me: Should I go through the chat option, call, or does it even matter?
Daisy: You can chat with us or call us. It depends on you.
Daisy: Our chat is 24/7.
Me: Ok and just contact you guys back when the order is shipped? Correct?
Daisy: Yes, it is.
Me: Ok, got it. Thank you so much!
Daisy: You are welcome and thank you for understanding. Is there anything else I can help you with today?
Me: Nope, that is it. Thank you.

I have got some good news! biggrin.gif (Funny you posted as I was just talking with them again) So they were able to help me out and they have to ship out the code separately from my card. In the spoiler is the latest chat. Now, I don't know if this is going to be a case by case with the card or if they will update their site later today concerning the card, but I had to contact them and show them the promotion. Once I get the card, ill test it out and report back with the readings from it. thumb.gif
