Need more connections!!!!

Hello

I am getting a new graphics card soon, a 7870, and it need 2 6 pin connectors. My power supply only has one though. I would also prefer not to do a 4 to 6 pin route, if at all possible because all my 4 pins are used.

I was wondering if there was a SATA to 6 pin possibly, and if so even SATA to 4 pin would be helpful also.

Thanks in advance,
Andrew

Thanks a lot,

I actually saw that, then went over it thinking it was 6 pin to SATA, not the reverse.

Thanks!

It's a 500 watt, it meets the requirments of the card, plus a 12V rail.

The rated wattage does not matter if its a crappy PSU that cant meat its rated wattage

So what PSU do you have?

he is right, total output for 12v rail is more important than the rated wattage

bad power supply tend to have little 12v output but big rated wattage

I wouldn't recommand using the sata to pci-e power

I would get a new power supply or use 2x molex to pci-e if you really need to keep the power supply for some reason
Using sata (which are meant to power hard drive) for a graphic card (which is one of the most power hungry components in your computer) isn't a good idea

that adapter is meant to power something like asus xonar phoebus sound card which uses 6 pin to power itself (sound card doesn't use lot of power)

Make and model? That's like telling me you have a V6 car with 200 HP. Doesn't tell me what car you have.

I can't think of any respectable power supply that claims 500W and has only one 6-pin power connector.

That said, it's not like an HD 7870 is such a heavy load...
