WIP: ASUS 7970 DC2T crossflash to Matrix Project and gen Info thread - Page 3

Yepp, gpu tweak looks like that when you have a ROG card.

Looks like that with my matrix smile.gif

I live in Sweden, and I'm talking to 2 guys on a swedish forum that both have your type of card. Also bought recently.

When i got the card i tried the newest version of gpu tweak, and i could still adjust up too 1256mV with that. The never version seems capped at 1170mV ?

Matrix, Matrix non platinum, 7970Top and DCU II non Top and also Gpu tweak 2.2.14

I did sell my first card, was 1125 stable with 1.170V

My 2nd card (that I'm using now) was stable 1145 Mhz with 1.170V

I could run it 1240Mhz with DCU II non top bios smile.gif

1230Mhz - 6600Mhz

1200Mhz - 7000Mhz - 1.275V

1240Mhz - 6000Mhz

And my temp is around 65-70C

With matrix bios never go over 1200 and was stable at 1180

Now 1200 is stable smile.gif

The guy said (who used original bios and Gpu Tweak) he is using 1260 Mhz stable.

you can download this one http://s3.dosya.tc/server5/UzJ5QZ/winflash.rar.html

Great temps thumb.gif I was wondering what kind of temperatures you were getting on the VRMs. Mine is idling at 60C. I have not pushed the card because I don't have the proper power requirements right now.

Thread Starter
Thanks Twisted1 for the info and comments. I don't know how new this GPU actually is, but its not too new. I got it after RMAing my original (it was flickering in Eyefinity, even when using all displayports) back in July 2012. I was disappointed at first when I couldn't flash to the matrix bios, but considering I can OC just by using GPU Tweak, I'm content.

From all the varying results in bios flashing, I suspect a FW, or even possibly slight hardware changes when ASUS manufactured the different card. Maybe they had some extra PCBs from the Matrix line that they sold as DC2 Top cards... Just a guess. I definitely think it is a hardware level incompatibility though.

And the other interesting thing; with matrix bios limited at 1.256V but I can run 1200Mhz

With DCU II bios, for 1200Mhz needs 1-275V - 1.3 V smile.gif

@ericeod could you make any test, benchmarks?

@mistermenphis22 I did try 1.4V for short time (1-2 mins) nothing happened, didn't see 80C smile.gif

70-75C always.

I can see just these options

I hope we can find another GPU Tweak (like 2.2.14) that unlocks Top and Matrix.

The PCB's differ a whole lot smile.gif The matrix has a totally overkill 20 phase powerdelivery(same as the ARES 2, and that has 2 gpus) DC2 have a 12phase wich is more then enough.

DC2T:

And Matrix, se how much wider it is, extending out past the pci-e power conn.

Have you tried the one for matrix cards?
