I had a WU fail during folding, so I dropped my OC down to 1180. I then quickly disabled F@H and ran Heaven 4.0 at the highest setting the free version allows (High):

Answer OF ASUS

Dear Valued Customer,
Thank you for contacting ASUS Technical Service.

Release unlocked original bios?

According to the support site:
http://support.asus.com.cn/download.aspx?SLanguage=en&p=9&m=HD7970-DC2T-3GD5&hashedid=0MltKGsARClFuQZQ

There is no VBIOS for this Graphic Card HD7970-DC2T-3GD5. Sorry for the inconvenience. Thank you for your understanding.

Very thank you for your advise. We collect your information, we will feedback to technology team.

Thank you for your support Asus product. Wish you have a good day.

bla bla bla.... Classic ASUS answer...

My question was.

Dear ASUS, you did try to keep original unlocked bios for 7970 Top Edition. But I did unlock it 2 times. For the first time I did use Matrix bios and it's unlocked (but limited at 1.256V)

And 2nd time I did use DCU II Edition and full unlocked and shared information everywhere. So 7970 Top is totally unlocked with 1.4V

Everybody can unlock their cards with my way(s). It's still risky, everytime risky flashing bios

So my suggestion to you: after this, you have to release unlocked bios. So we can use original and unlocked bios.

Here is our page (it shows how we did unlock bios)

http://www.overclock.net/t/1390275/wip-asus-7970-dc2t-crossflash-to-matrix-project-and-gen-info-thread

It's time to release unlocked original bios... If you don't, doesnt matter for us...

Hey in GPU Tweak go to Settings, Tuning, Tune Settings and check "Overclocking range enhancements"

If you don't see the option click on the button that switches from advanced to standard mode then you will see it and you'll be good to go.

Bios switch position and names: if I understand true names like this;

For DCU II - 44300.100 - 44400.110

44300.100 means 5 out and Dual DVI (2560 x 1440)
44400.100 means 6 out and 2 x Single DVI (1920 x 1080)

For DCU II Top - 45600.100 - 45700.100

45600.100 means 5 out and Dual DVI (2560 x 1440)
45700.100 means 6 out and 2 x Single DVI (1920 x 1080)

For Matrix - 48700.100 - 48800.100

48700.100 means 5 out and Dual DVI (2560 x 1440)
48800.100 means 6 out and 2 x Single DVI (1920 x 1080)

When you try to flash bios and If you don't know about bios which is which, check your bios switch position and choose the correct one from Techpowerup bios collection.

Forexample old bios starts with 015.012...

113-AD44300-100
113-AD44400-100

Big numbers belongs to 6 out switch position.

You know these "leaks" that occur now and then, are almost always intentional leaks. And if they're not they suddenly dissapear real fast.. The first thread about this and the first link that appeared in public is/was on Asus own site, and the link to the gpu tweak has been there for more than 6 months. Mods. have seen and talked about the thread, if Asus wanted to take down the link they could have done so a long time ago.

This has been around the OC community since the DCU2 was released, and was shortly there after shared.

Remember there is a reason to why they don't leave certain things wide open all unlocked(well actually 99% of all cards are only soft locked). People that perhapss shouldn't mess with OC will often do so anyways and this leads to burnt cards and you know what I'm talking about. Limiting them too 1170mV is abit harsh tho, I think 1256mV is a more reasonable limit in that case(my older dc2t was adjustable to 1256mV with any gpu tweak btw)

Anywhooo, if you sort of keep a low profile about it no problem. In this case I do belive all NDA's are already lifted a long time ago.

But like if you cant flash a bios and don't know how to check what temps your card is at, perhaps you shouldn't run 1400mV through you poor gpu,

Anyways, about possible hardware changes.

Have a look at your voltage controller,

Situated here on your card, this will need some disassembling of the cooler and stuff I don't know if it voids warranty, there are no caution "warranty void" stickers like on alot of other cards. And there's no way for anyone to know if you dont tell them. I've RMA'd cards before that had varranty void stickers that I clearly had opened up but no problem at all.

Close up

Mine says,
ASP1211
Q4R145.1 12
U1149

If you have a hard time reading the numbers(they are very very small) Take a picture of if it real zoomed in and read it from the picture, much easier that way.

How are the 7970's doing with the latest F@H software? I know it's alot better but how good?

If you do alot of folding, water is the way to go, only way to keep temps down and still have a quiet system.

One difference I've noticed between the DC2T and the Matrix btw, is that the Matrix stock cooler is better. The design is slightly different, instead of the heatpipes directly touching the GPU, the heatpipes are soldered to a big piece of cooper that's in direct contact with the GPU. This makes for a much flatter contact surface, which is always good smile.gif

I'm getting approx 120k ppd with the 7970. It's putting up some decent numbers!
