Is my PicoPSU wiring hack safe?

Hey guys. First time doing a wiring hack mod. I am planning a SFF project and my goal is to fit a full sized graphics card in the space of 3.5L. In order to achieve this goal, I had to be particular about the components. I decided that the optimal solution is a PicoPSU in combination with an industrial open frame switching power supply. I think the open SMPS will supply adequate amperage and the PicoPSU will give the motherboard the necessary regulated 3v and 5v supply.

The PicoPSU needs 150W or 12V, 14.5A, and the PCI-E connector requires 75W or 12V, 6A. The open SMPS is rated for 300W or 12V, 25A. It's a Mean Well EPP-300-12(http://www.powergatellc.com/mean-well-epp-300-12-power-supply.html) . It's a Taiwanese unit that's not super expensive. There is an 120VAC input and 2 screw terminal post outputs.

Question: Did I miscalculate anything with the power requirements?

Will the following drawings work ?

Your plans look good to me.  I assume you have the power connector for the CPU (the 12v-only one that goes to the motherboard) factored in there somewhere.
Have you figured out how to use the motherboard's PSU on/off signal to turn on and off your master (industrial 12v) power supply?  Also, the PicoPSU's input rating of 14.5 A is the maximum.  I bet that your motherboard (excluding the CPU) and HDDs (5v) will use less then 70 W, which will reduce that number a by lot.  thumb.gif

I'm hoping with it wired like this it will just work. Since the PicoPSU is all grounded to the
"master" then it should function as if the PicoPSU were connected to a brick. There's no difference I see, do you?

The only purpose of the industrial SMPS is to add more amps to power the PCI-E.
