Overlocking my CPU and graphics card. Help.

Thread Starter
I have used MSI afterburner to overclock my graphics card and the system bios to overclock my cpu but when I came to the desktop and right click on my computer and went to properties and check my cpu nothing has changed. why?

Unless if I use cpuz that I can see the cpu hitting the amount of clock i overclocked.
Why does my CPU under ( my computer, properties) not change when I overlock my cpu and why does my dedicated video memory not change when I overlock my graphics card? smile.gif

That would just show what components are in the system. Not the actual frequency you're running at. Download something like CPU-Z and/or RealTemp to see your actual frequency and voltage information.

Yep, but how do you let your (overclocked) appear on my computer under properties?

Did you overclock yours in the bios or software?

Bios, Windows reads stock Freq when telling information about the CPU and Mobo, only CPU-Z will be able to tell you the real Freq.
It's always been like this if i can remember, even my Phenom II X4 955 BE is the same on OC.

What I was thinking is we can overclock in the bios because if you do so it does show your overclocked ( adding the stock clocked and give you the total). After this (overlooking in the bios) then you install your windows.

I have not tried this idea though, so I am not sure if it will work. it could.

Don't stress mate, your CPU is clocked at whatever you set in the bios, its just windows showing the basic info of your CPU, happens on everyones PC
