Skydrive wink.gif They just released a new app update for the iPhone that has officially murdered Dropbox for me. I know everyone's heard of it, but I swear, this app is genuinely worth its salt! It does some serious butt kicking against the other cloud apps, and I can use actual MS Office from my phone to edit stuff (or from a desktop browser).

Tweetbot for mac. You might ask, "Why is it so expensive? It's just a twitter app." This thing has some serious fire power behind it, it's gorgeous, stable, has a functional layout, and is one of the only programs I have used in my 20+ years of using computers that can be both gorgeous and efficiently laid out. I can't think of anything that's wrong with it besides the price. Really.

Irssi. I was introduced to this four years ago and even though it was nothing new, I had been a long-time x-chat user. I didn't know any better back then! It is an IRC client. I have it up on my web server in a screen and I can remotely access it whenever I want, even from my phone. With all the plug-ins it is incredibly robust.

Pale Moon. It's Firefox without the bloat and optimized for higher end systems. 173 tabs open right now and my browser is not eating up tons of memory or lagging a single bit. smile.gif

I wish I could think of cool obscure programs like the rest of you but sadly most of what I love has been well documented. frown.gif

Snadboy's Revelation
cant remember that password that is obfuscated by ********?
A tool that will let you see the actual password behind the asterisks!
This program surprisingly still works since 2006, not surprising that microsoft's password protection is pretty weak.

The program uses a little crosshair, you pick it up with your mouse and drop it on the *****, and the real password is revealed.

do not be alarmed if your anti-virus program starts going crazy. It's a great little program when you gotta move passwords from ftp programs to a new install on another computer that has no import/export functionality within the program. Some limitations ofcourse, but its worth a download to your toolbox.

Why didn't anyone tell me about NTCore 4GB Patch?  This wonderful little program can safely increase the 2 GB per-process RAM limitation for a 32-bit application in 64-bit Windows to 4 GB in most cases.  I just found out about it and tried it on VirtualDub.  I can't use the 64-bit edition of VirtualDub because most VirtualDub plugins are 32-bit.  Additionally, I'm using AviSynth, which is also only 32-bit.  There are a couple of experimental 64-bit builds of AviSynth, but they can't load 32-bit plugins.  So this wonderful program came to the rescue.  I was able to use VirtualDub's DeShaker with HD video and 60 look-back + 60 look-ahead frames and it worked perfectly! biggrin.gif

I'll contribute since I've seen in here a lot of stuff that I use and is great.

- Unified Remote Server: turns your smartphone in a remote control for your computer, tons of pre-made remotes ranging from keyboard and mouse (trackpad) to media, browser, and various other stuff. Pay app doesn't cost much, is god-tier, has TONS of remotes, and gives you the ability to make your own ones.

- Better DS3: a simplified gui for the Motioninjoy drivers (for using a PS3 controller on your PC). No need to stay online and deal with the bugs and all the crap that Motioninjoy has.

- LEGO Digital Designer: you can build LEGO models with it. Enough said.

- dBpoweramp: this is the ultimate swiss knife for audio enthusiasts. CD Ripper, converter (and batch converter), supports filters in conversion, easy to use and lightweight, not to mention greatly optimized for multicore and multithreaded CPUs.

- GameSave Manager: backups and restores your game saves, move Steam folders from SSDs, supports schedules and you can set all your folders and games manually so that it doesn't miss a single thing.

- OblyTile: this is the single software that turns your Metro from "meh" to "HELL YEAH AWESOME". Custom tiles of any kinds, you can choose your icons and set all the parameters you want.

That Unified Remote Server is nice. I am liking it a lot.
I will have to try out the others, too.

Unified Remote is incredibly useful once you get the hang of it. Say for example you have your PC connected to your tv and you're on the sofa watching something at night; if you get sleepy you don't even need to stand up to turn off the monitor, because you've got the monitor power remote. Or say you're going somewhere, you're already out of your house and everything but you forgot to turn off your pc: shutdown options remote. You're in the bathroom and your mom comes in saying "honey can I use your pc for just a second" just when you let your guard down and you have all your porn websites in full view? Task manager remote saves the day.
There's even a portable version of the server app, I have it in my pc utilities USB stick and it can be pretty useful to bring along.
To be honest, the only thing it lacks is the remote desktop functionality - and that's me being picky. Otherwise it's perfect.
