Best soundcard with microphone amp?

I currently use a headset (Sennheiser PC360). Recently I bought an Asus Xonar D2X soundcard which I think may have been a mistake for a headset setup atleast. Whilst sound qualilty was good I was getting lots of complaints from my friends over VOIP programs telling me that my microphone sounds quiet and that I sound like I'm sitting in the very back of the room talking. My original sound card the ASUS XONAR DG 5.1 with microphone Amp had no problems of the sort which is why I think I've chosen a poor sound card for my set up. For now I'm using my D2X for my headset and the DG for my microphone, it's not optimal but it works however I want to replace this soon for one soundcard.

My question is, is there a soundcard similar to the Asus Xonar DG 5.1 with its performance for headset/microphone? My maximum I would be willing to pay is £120-£130.

This is the best of the best card you can get, and I still don't think it would help your mic problem.

Try going to control panel - hardware and sound - sound - then click on the recording tab - look for your mic - then make sure it is setup properly.

After that, go into the asus card settings and look for the mic volume and make sure that is all the way up.

It's defiantly setup right in both windows and the sound drivers. So are you saying that the Asus Xonar D2X should deliver the same levels of microphone volume as the Asus Xonar DG? If that's the case maybe I've got corrupted drivers/faulty card.

Yeah the amp is only for the headphones. Not for the line in (microphone).

You could try using driver sweep and then installing the 3rd party unified drivers. I doubt it will do anything, but it is worth a shot I suppose.

Well, starting messing around with the microphone volume. Lowered that down to 10 and activated microphone boost and now apparently It sounds normal.
