Could this $800 build max out BF3 at 1080P and at least 60FPS? - Page 3

Yea. first off, 7950 all the way, deff better than the 660 ti, however, there is a new generation of GPU's coming out on Nvidia's side, so it maybe best to wait and see what is going to happen. Next off, the FX6300 may not cut it for you, as BF3 can actually get a bit cpu intensive when it comes to multiplayer. I would recommend getting a 2500k, its cheap, and highly overclockable. If your willing to spend however, you could get an ivy bridge.

Where could I get the 7950 W/ the 3 free Games for around 250?
I was gonna say get a 7950 but the price for the 660TI is very good right now. If you want ultra at 1080P at 60fpsI can say that the 7950 will do it with a fx 6300-6350. I have a 7950 OCed and get around 55-85fps depending on the maps with a fx-4100. However the price of the 660TI makes this decision alot harder. Do you already own Crysis 3, FC3 Blood Dragon, or Bioshock Infinite? If not and those are some games you are gonna buy anyway then I would still get a 7950. But if you have no car about those games then I would go 660TI. But be warned the 7950 is more future proof. It also overclocks near a GTX 670 and 7970.

If you choose 7950 I recommend this card. $290 after rebate.

No it wont, by experience you will need at least a video card with 2GB of VRAM.I have a 670 and it uses about 1.8GB of VRAM in max settings and on occasion (rarely)... ill get some drops under 60 fps... but for the most part its smooth

And to make sure your CPU doesnt bottleneck your video card, make sure to at least have an OC of 4.2 or 4.5....

My CPU has a stock C-Rate of 3.9GHz with 6Cores. I am planning to overclock. If I choose the 7970 and a AMD Phenom X4 965 Black Edition, could I play at my desired stats?

7970 and Phenom II X4 will work, but I don't recommend getting a Phenom II. They're so old, and will be even older by this year's Black Friday!

660Ti should be able to hit 60fps as well - it's a definite 60fps if you disable MSAA and use SMAA/FXAA instead.

But mainly - I recommend you change your case. I had the experience of working with that Apevia X-Trooper recently - it's terrible! Unpainted insides, very archaic model, you have to snap off the PCI-slot covers, and removing the 5.5" drive covers is ridiculously difficult.

Also, I'd get an air cooler for better CPU cooling for the price. H50/60/70/80 probably aren't going to drop much on Black Friday.

That would be a great choice! Do you think you can save a bit more for the Ghz version? wink.gif Heard theyre beast

Well as the only 660 ti owner in this thread who also games at 1080p I can tell you that no you wont have 60 fps with all settings max. If you do however drop the AA and anisotropic filtering down a bit you will indeed have no issue stay at 60 without many problems. If you OC the card then even more so, also I don't see a reason for any VRAM issues as my card only gets about 1.4gb usage, modded Skyrim, Crysis 2 and Crysis 3 have been the only games I've found to go beyond 2GB. Most others stay below 1.7gb and very few go beyond that even slightly.

The 7950 will do about the same and again OC'd will put you higher in the marks. Either one will get you there just depends on price and whether you care about the free games included. You should quite easily do what you want with a 7950/7970 OC'd or a 660/670 OC'd. A 965 BE will also handle 64 player maps without much of a problem if I remember right.
