Internet stops working, then computer freezes.

Thread Starter
For some strange reason, at any given time my internet would stop working, and then it will freeze for a couple of seconds. Here's how it would go.

Internet goes out. Can't load anything in Chrome. Spotify stops working. Although I could still talk to and hear my friends on Skype.

Computer freezes. Can still hear and talk to friends. It freezes anywhere from 10 to 30 seconds.

It has happened just in Chrome, or even when playing a game such as League of Legends and Marvel Heroes.

Any way to narrow down the component that's causing this to happen? Or could it be software related?

So it freezes for 10-30 secs then returns to normal?

Could be a Driver or HDD issue.

Sounds like a hard drive or hard drive controller problem.

How would I fix the hard drive controller problem? Is that something I do in the bios, or windows?

I had a similar problem with those chrome and stuff freezing,,,after a long bunch of bad ideas,,i conclude that the dvd drive was no good

my last option was clean install,,,new HDD,,,thought I had a virus,,dvd wouldnt read the disk,,,,new dvd drive all is well now

that's my 7 cents LOL

I'd try updating or reinstalling the drivers. You might also want to try updating the firmware on your SSD, if that's possible (I'm not an expert on SSDs). If all else fails, you could try updating the BIOS.

Your temperatures and everything are fine, right? That's a pretty long shot, but when CPUs overheat, they drop the clock speed for a few seconds.

I'd also run a stability test, just to be safe.

Try prime 95 and Furmark

I think there is something wrong with your Ethernet controller or nic
Try updating Chrome and get new driver for ethernet controller

My SSD firmware is up to date, just checked. If I update the bios then I can't enter it with a USB keyboard. I have to use a PS/2 keyboard. It's odd. Also temps are more than fine. My CPU never hits above 42c.

If all else fails, you can try the CD/DVD fix. I had a friend that rebuilt his rig with a new case and Mobo and the the PC would Not boot or BSOD on boot and if it did boot would freeze and BSOD. We threw everything at it, New HDD/Mobo/CPU, etc... Changed the CD/DVD drive..Fixed. lol you could try it too. thumb.gif
