Delidding a 3770k

Thread Starter
Im thinking of Delidding my 3770K in order to get better temps currently its under water and with my former CF 6950's i used to get 50-60C with a triple rad double with 6 fans push and pull which i believe is quiet high.

So i was thinking of getting the EK delidding kit since i do have the new EK Supremecy block and hope that would cool it down, but any one have good guide or recommendations? i looked it up and seems to be a few ways of doing it whats the best so i dont damage my cpu?

I would take a look through this thread, I have looked over it and it seems that a lot of people have had success with minimal risk of scratching or gouging things. thumb.gif

You might want to check this club where there is full of knowledgeable people that can help you about it.

[Official] Delidded Ivy Bridge Club

There are two methods, with Razor blade, OR , with the use of a vice, hammer and wood piece.

I prefer the vice method I think it's safer and quicker but I haven't experienced them.

With the vice

With Razer Blade

It's not a delidding kit but a mounting kit for delidded CPUs.

EK first to support cooling of delided Ivy Bridge CPUs

Its the EK-Supremacy PreciseMount Add-on Naked Ivy

Quote:
EK-Supremacy PreciseMount Add-on Naked Ivy is an add-on for EK-Supremacy PreciseMount universal mounting mechanism that offers error-preventing, tool-less installation. The result is a perfect installation which results in perfect performance every time. It is compatible with EK-Supremacy series water blocks only! All enclosed screws are made of high-quality nickel plated brass. EK recommends the normal orientation of EK-Supremacy water block for optimal results! Using the water block rotated by 90° may result in less than optimal cooling.

But beware, this product is not for the faint of heart!
In fact it is intended to be used by expert users only as removing the CPU IHS is a delicate process. EK Water Blocks will not be held responsible for any failed removal operation that resulted in death of the computer component! Also worth considering is the fact that removing the IHS from the Intel CPU will result in voiding your warranty. Please do not try to remove IHS from previous generation Intel Core i3/i5/i7 CPUs (such as Sandy Bridge, Clarkdale and Arrandale) as the core (die) is soldered to the IHS on aforementioned models. Any attemps to remove the IHS from such processors will surely result in irreparable damage to the CPU.
