It might take a minute to sell the motherboard and the CPU, but I bet the GPU will go pretty quick and easy. Also, I know you won't have enough money for what you really want, so you will have to save up some money to add to what you make. If you really want to upgrade and you are okay with being without your computer for a minute, I say go for it. thumb.gif

I was more leaning toward selling the rig as a whole. I dont think I would make as much parting it out since I wouldnt really be able to sell a few of the parts....

I guess, data migration can be a pain though, so you should probably keep at least one of your drives. Also, other people may not entirely appreciate what you did to the case, in particular, the side panel.

OP- can't believe I missed this thread. I thought I was following all the current wood/desk mods already. Keep it up. thumb.gif

One question. The motherboard mounts are screwed directly into the wood. Is the hold going to be solid? My motherboard is going to be side mounted as well but I was too scared to screw the brass fittings into the wood itself so I cut out the metal pre-drilled sheet from an old PC case and have that as a brace between the motherboard and desk. Maybe I am being too cautious. It's my first significant piece of wood furniture I have ever built so I don't have a lot of knowledge/experience.

Yeah it's pretty solid. Not the best though, I'm thinking of doing it another way. I ha it held up with just 5 screws though with my video car in it and it held though so It's decent. I am thinking about doing the peice of metal as well. I will work on it tonight and let you guys know smile.gif

I think that if you were willing to give up a few stand-off or go to your local hardware store and find something similar, you could glue them in with some sort of rubber cement or epoxy and they would hold really well. When I build my case that is how I am going to try to do it.

Do you have to do anything to ground the motherboard or EMI shielding?
