There are no bad products just bad prices wink.gif

At $115 don't complain. It's a steal , this makes the HD7790 look even more terrible

The card that's running on, by the way, has 384mb of VRAM and is a 96sp G92-based card on 2560x1440. 1GB GDDR5 for 1080p is no sweat even in gpu-heavy games, and I say that having run ones before in some systems I've worked with.

You're amusing.

BF3 @ Ultra with 2x MSAA 1080p pulls ~1500MB. Good luck with your 1GB card eh. And then BF3 isn't the most VRAM stressfull by far... Crysis 3 easily passes 1.8GB for one.

Why you say that? You could get THIS for less than $230 and you wouldn't be stuck at 1GB.

I must admit this is an great bang-for-buck card! Someone looking for a card in the $150 area is in for an treat.

Do you understand how afterburner gets its vram readings? Go run that on a 1gb card sans aa and report back wink.gif. Hint: it isn't pulling actual usage numbers, just allocations.

I'll spoiler the result since I already have done so... It works smoothly and runs with allocations near 1gb, but never forcing itself over.

Trust me. I tried. 2 1GB HD4890's in CF aren't even enough for High on 1080p in terms of VRAM.

7850 2gb doesn't make sense right now. 650 ti boost 2gb is $50(without rebates) cheaper and slightly faster than 7850. Around $240 mark, there's Powercolor 7870 PCS+ Myst edition, after rebates $230, it's a tahiti le gpu so a lot faster for $50-60 more.

7850 2gb prices are abysmal right now. $170 650 TI Boost 2GB beats $220 7850 2 GB. They need to pull 7850 back to 650 price levels and 7870 to around $200.

I hate getting sucked into these debates. smile.gif 99% of the time, you are right 1gb is enough for 1080p. But not all the time.

... Shogun II’s highest settings won’t even run on a 1GB card, and at meanwhile Battlefield 3 scales up render distance with available video memory. Nearly half of our benchmark games do benefit from 2GB cards, a subjective but important quality

Many times the REASON a game remains smooth on a 1gb card is because the game engine detects the limitation and works with what it has. That doesnt mean your getting the same experience.
