7850 2gb prices are abysmal right now. $170 650 TI Boost 2GB beats $220 7850 2 GB. They need to pull 7850 back to 650 price levels and 7870 to around $200.

If you are willing to pay 250 for a gpu... Grab this deal : PowerColor 7950 249.99 AR

That's too steep over a 650 ti. I was trying to emphasize that even after rebates, $200 7850 2 GB isn't worh the money against 650 ti boost 2gb.

Nvidia pulled a rabbit out of their hats(or somewhere else biggrin.gif) there.

Depends on what is your style. $185 for an 2GB 7850 (I have shoprunner... NO MOAR SHIPPING FEES!). I know stock the boost might be better but I don't know the overclock-vs-overclock results.

http://www.anandtech.com/show/6359/the-nvidia-geforce-gtx-650-ti-review/6 - The 2GB Question & The Test
Many times the REASON a game remains smooth on a 1gb card is because the game engine detects the limitation and works with what it has. That doesnt mean your getting the same experience.

Interesting article, hadn't seen it before. 1GB may not work well a few years down the line, but as their results found, it works well as of the present. The only games they ran into anything with were Shogun II, and BF3 scaling its render distance. And, on Shogun II, read my following paragraph.

Shogun II has a well known bug/issue where it allocates a ton of video memory that is ONLY used for the title screen, but if you load directly into the game from a save or somesuch it doesn't take that away. So I'd take any results on that one with a grain of salt... I first saw the problem mentioned by SKYMTL (Hardwarecanucks' video card reviewer).

With the cheapest 2gb 650 Ti Boost at ~$170 (free shipping with shoprunner or $6 without to make it 176), compared to this at $115, I don't think the 2gb is worth it over 1gb for this level of card. You're talking 50%+ more for a small amount of futureproofing and miniscule at best benefits currently. They just aren't the same pricing class of card.

BF3 @ Ultra with 2x MSAA 1080p pulls ~1500MB. Good luck with your 1GB card eh. And then BF3 isn't the most VRAM stressfull by far... Crysis 3 easily passes 1.8GB for one.

Looks like you dont understand how vram usage work..

FYI i was running bf3 at ultra with 2x msaa using dual hd 6850 at around 70 fps on average.

Vram is usage is far from being linear. Games will usually take whats available, which result in inflated vram usage.

Yep, hence why I was mentioning allocation vs. requirements smile.gif. Most people don't understand the difference, though.

If you spent around $200 send it back and get the 7950 off newegg for $250, as stated by Ramzinho above^^
The only 7870 that was a steal was the 7870xt/myst when it was about $175 with 3free games, I don't think the 650ti will run Skyrim maxed out very smoothly.

From similar 650ti cards it only seems to run Skyrim maxed at around 36-40fps average (not overclocked), for high end games you will need to drop some of the eye candy, I'd say anything less than a 660ti wouldn't be that great on newer graphic games or anything less than a 7870 for that matter.
Most people say 60fps is perfect for gaming, but it's just OK imo, I prefer nothing less than 100fps or it just feels sluggish, especially in FPS style games.

Some people are getting defensive with their love for Nvidia in here, but these mid level cards aren't meant to hang with the big dogs, they're just for efficiency and moderate gaming. The 650ti may be towards the top of the mid level, but it's still a mid level card. Great price though^^

Nah if any I'm trying to save money not spend more.

Big dogs imo would be the 7850 and higher. The 650TI Boost is faster than that, at $115 after rebate right now. That's crazy.
