AMD FX8350 with a SLI GTX670 to power a 120Hz monitor - Page 2

With my stock 8350 and an overclocked 7970Ghz Edition (1200mhz core / 1600mhz mem) I will under really heavy, open firefights drop into 40's on caspian border, but my 8120 used to dip way lower. Usually it rarely goes below 50fps and averages around 60-70fps. SLI 670's will definitely net you better results and even a 4.5ghz 8350 should do very well to keep you closer to your goals, but unfortunately 100-120fps minimums aren't happening on any hardware out simply due to the massive cpu requirements of the game.

The 3770k, 3820+ and 8300 series are the best for the 64 player matches as it eats as many cores as it generally can. An overclock will definitely help though, a 4.8ghz 8350 should do very, very well.

Ahh, wel i wasnt hoping to use the V-Sync on that monitor anyway tongue.gif But seeing your results gives me good hope i will have a minimum FPS drop of around 70 with my 2 GTX670 SLI setup. if it will average on the 64 player map around 90 i'll be a happy gamer smile.gif

I'm planning a 4,5 Ghz OC on the FX8350 for 24/7 usage, is that a good idea? Or can i push it further? Would i win much FPS wise if i do?

(Owhh, have to wait another week to get it but i'm already excited!)

Your motherboard isn't great for heavy overclocking, so don't expect to go crazy with the 8350 on there.

Keep the VRM's on that board cool and you should be good for 4.5-4.6 with a decent cooler.

I've got a 970 Extreme 3 and I can only hit about 4.4ghz before serious throttling - but that's more or less my hyper 212+ evo, a cramped case, a overclocked 7970ghe exhausting hot air into said case and the motherboard having crappy air flow over the vrms.

Ah, wel think i'm gonna be ok, my case has pretty good airflow ( But with a upcoming SLI that's something to be aware of, so much thnxx for pointing that out thumb.gif )

I'm running a Hyper TX3 EVO cooler, it does a amazing job on my FX6100, had it on 4,5 and the temp wasn't a issue.
Hoping that i can migrate this cooler to my FX8350, but i'm guessing it will get hotter.

And for DDR3, faster then 1600? Is there any point in having faster RAM?

Considering that fx chips natively support 1866 ram,it would seem like a waste to run anything less. However, considering the current price of ram and the small effect it has on gaming, it might be wiser to stick to 1600. I scored near 20GB/s read bandwidth with a pair of team 1600 ram and a 6300. I guess it comes down to your budget.....

Mhh, faster RAM is cheaper for me, can i run 2000Hz one's 8 gb for 1\3 of the price of 1866Hz. Maybe downclock it to match the CPU's native's speed?

Nice! I wish prices were that good here. It is my understanding that you want to match the nb and memory speed as close as possible. So that would be 2200.
