There's probably a better description, but I take it that the Rampage IV Extreme is primarily - but probably not only - focused on gamers, with appropriate tools to assist in overclocking.

The WS appears to be dual-purpose, gaming and workstation, with emphasis on the latter. There appears to be no extra hardware to assist in overclocking, but it may have a generous set of software for such.

The WS is about $75 US higher than Rampage, and perhaps it is worth the difference. I hope so, because I've decided on the WS, and no longer on the Rampage - when my finances allow.

I like the full complement of x16 slots, as well as it covering all the other things Rampage does.

I plan to use a CaseLabs TH10, water cooling, Corsair AX1200 PS, 32 GB ram (half used as a RAMdisk), and probably a single video card. I'm tossing the latter around, and will probably get one in the $200-$250 range.

Overclocking? Nah, not likely. It will all seem like a Ferrari compared with my old single core system.

Best wishes.
