Me neither and after two weeks of trying to troubleshoot and then calling newegg to RMA my cards it FINALLY hit me. OSD was conflicting with the game launch and causing CTD with driver display crash and recover.

I have found some people can use it and some people can't. I wish I could diagnose it, but I mean a fresh install of windows, install GPU drivers, install afterburner with riva tuner for on screen display, install games, play BF3 multiplayer and I get a freeze and then crash and recover. On a fresh OS!!!! I don't think it's battlefields fault. I think its on Riva Tuners end.

Whatever you're doing, you're breaking something in the process. This is not an issue, it is an isolated issue. Fyi, games like skyrim have a problem with the D3D libraries but not BF3. In cases like that you can force compatibility mode.

What do you mean, "whatever I'm doing"?? How am I breaking something? All I know is that when I turn off OSD everything works fine. BF3, Skyrim, etc. I'm not trying to say you are wrong. I know that you are a hundred times more knowledged than I am on this subject. Could you tell me how to fix it? I really wish that I could use OSD, but I just can't get it to work.

I had problems with my 7970 crashing when entering into a BF3 match and could not fix it. I bought SLI 670s and had the same problem with the crashing but it was fixed with using older drivers and now is fixed with the newer beta drivers.

I know this was a known issue with Nvidia back when I had my GTX680 SLI, and not sure if it was Nvidia drivers or the game it's self to blame, but is anyone with AMD also experiencing this? All other games play fine, even BF3 plays fine when I get into the game, it's 100% stable, it only crashes the drivers when actually joining a server, not in-game. doh.gif

I'm using the latest beta drivers (13.5 BETA 2).

Are you using msi afterburner overlay or radeonpro? They can both cause this crash.

If you're using one of these you can either create a bf3 profile in rivatuner osd and enable custom D3d Support to prevent the crash. If you're using radeonpro try disabling the overlay or start it up after bf3 has loaded.

Yes, I use MSI Afterburner with in-game on-screen overlay, I will try enabling Custom Direct3D support and see if it helps. smile.gif

I had the same problem myself and this was the way i stopped the crashing. The alternative way is to start afterburner after you've loaded Battlefield 3. smile.gif

I enabled that and so far no issues, I'll report back later tonight or tomorrow. smile.gif
