[umpcporta] AMD Temash A6-1450 Performance (Acer Aspire V5)

I’ve been testing the Acer Aspire V5 122P, a subnotebook based on the new AMD Temash platform. As part of my testing I’ve been doing some CPU and GPU-specific tests that will give people and idea of the processing power and efficiency of the A6-1450 platform. You are invited to request a test if you feel it will add something to the assessment.

Integer Math: 4066 (Core i3 2377M at 1.5Ghz = -26%)

Does that mean the I3 was 26% slower? Or was the A6 26% slower? ARG! I hate percentages. Just show flipping scores. All percentages do is sensationalize the numbers. If some one wants the percentages they can fire up a calculator and figure them out.

Whoa! this CPU is 100% more powerful! ...but what if 100% is a score of 2 over 1 out of a possible 10...neither CPU would be all that great and in the real world be about equal.

Formatting is pretty crappy.  I'd much rather look at a bland excel sheet.  At least I'd know what each number is referring to.

From the review:
"Comparisons in brackets are always against the average of three Passmark scores for the Core i3 2377M."

So the A6 was 26% slower.
(correct me if I'm wrong)

Heh, I don't know...it could either way...I suppose I could try to contact the author to find out.

Personally I would think the resulting score from the I3 was 26% less, but that is just what I would do. It all depends on how the comparison was made. (and I would actually show the scores...preferably on an easy to read graph.)

My guess if "CPU Single Thread: 564 (+40%) " (i3 single core is perhaps faster) then it means the I3 was 26% slower.

You're right! The formatting was terrible. I've made it easier to understand now.

Happy to answer any questions or do additional tests.

(And here's to my first post on this forum! Thanks for linking vampirr.)

Chippy.
