Irrelevant about the power consumption. Except if you gaming 24/7 at 100% usage.

You think that's bad? I have to get by on 1.5 Mbps which costs me around $30 a month, I can't wait to switch providers and get 8 Mbps for like $70. thumbsdownsmileyanim.gif

Could you prove that?

No offence but I like cold, hard facts. thumb.gif

I normally game around 4 hours on school days and around 8-10 on weekends, but now that school's out its around 8-10 on most days. biggrin.gif

The GTX 660ti will be more efficient but only by few irrevelant watts. They are about on par.

Check here for many comparaisons in different scenarios.

I agree about the power consumption thing. You could find out yourself by checking the power difference on load, how much you would game a day and calculate that figure throughout a year.

The 7950 will be a stronger gpu than the 660ti. In my opinion, it is worth the 50 over the 660ti.

Ok so it's settled then, the power consumption between the two is irrelevant, how about the 7970, should I spend the extra $70 on the 7970 from a 7950? I'm looking to keep this card for at least 2 years.
The graphs I posted before can give you an idea if a couple of FPS is worth 70$.

I personally have tried the HD 7970 and I reallyi liked it very much.

Or would it be irrelevant?

How much would a GTX 660 Ti and a 7950 overclocked pull out of the wall?

I'm planning on using a Seasonic X-560 Gold or a Seasonic Platinum 660W PSU, any help at all would be great appreciated!

+rep to everyone, thanks alot!

from the HIS HD 7950 iceq x2 reviews you can see that HD 7950 card at 950 mhz drawing 45 - 50w more than GTX 660 Ti. assuming you run 6 hours of gaming per day. thats. 50w x 6 hr = 300 watt hr = 0.3 kilo watt hour . so per day your extra cost would be = 0.14 x 0.3 = 0.042$. for a month = 30 x 0.042 = 1.26. for a year 1.26 x 12 = 15.12. so roughly 15 dollars a year extra electricity bill if you game for 6 hrs a day. thats nothing if you consider the extra performance. thumb.gif

^^ Power draw is pretty negligible. Only time it would be a "significant" difference is if you're running tri or quadfire with all the cards OC'd. Though if that's the case I highly doubt that person cares if their electric bill is an extra $10 a month.

Just pick up the 7950, you'll be happy with it, the 7970 isn't going to give you very much more for the $70 and you can always pocket the $70 and save up for a second 7950 to crossfire with later on.
