If you are going to record footage make sure you are doing so on a secondary HDD as you will have massive frame drops.
I run raid 0 on my 2 seagate barracuda 1T 7200RPM 64MB cache drives. Honestly, I used to use Camtasia Studio 8, still use it for editing cause im too lazy to learn vegas, and even though I was recording at 60FPS, the video itself seemed to lag. Even after compression. Some recording software just isn't good enough. FRAPS is just a safe and easy way to record, even if I take an FPS drop. I will try dxtory when I get home, does it do 60FPS recording?

I noticed much less video recording lag when using my 2TB data drive over my SSD as the FRAPS target location. You can always use another partition, but its preferable to use another disk completely.

Yes, I would say you should have the same Size and manditory is the same speed/cache. They should ideally be the exact same drives to get optimal speed/reliability.

I don't know how this turned into a TITAN thread we are talking about recording video games 4 gods sake hahaha~ But I guess I should of seen this coming doh.gif
I know. But this never turned into a titan thread, please keep in mind that all posts have a context that you need to pay attention to. Seems to be the great failing of the internet, nobody has a clue what context is.

The poster I quoted was referring to the differences between crysis 3 on a console, and crysis 3 maxed out on a pc at 60 fps... Something which is unattainable without said setup. IE: In order to actually see the differences said poster was speaking about, he would have to dump a solid 3 grand into a build.

Splinter Cell Conviction? That game will run on a AMD 965 BE and HD6870 maxed out (I know because I own it and have run it on such a rig).

It's a better game to play on Xbox Live though. I don't think anyone bothers with it on PC that much.

OP, one of the best ways to convince someone to buy into something is to have them try it for themselves. We all know videos are great to get an idea of how something is or will be but it doesn't come close to actually playing the game for ourselves. My suggestion is to find a game your friend enjoys, have him play it on your PC then find a game (have him find a game) that he is interested in that he can't find on XBOX360. I'm sure if the experience isn't something he can recreate on XBOX360 he will probably be a bit more keen to move to PC gaming. Heck, I just set up my XBOX360 (has a broken disc tray) yesterday that has been sitting unplugged in a corner for almost year. I went to Wal*Mart and bought Skate 3 because THPS doesn't come close to the Skate series' experience. It is all about having fun and letting him experience it himself.

I got one of those type of friends who play on XBOX and dont really think PC is ~any better, well he plays a lot of BF3 (24 players,xbox-controller, 30fps, 640p-res, no AA etc. you know what I¨m talking about) and a few times he has played a round or 2 of BF3 on my rig @ultra graphics with max AA at 1080P at 72fps with mouse+keyboard on full 64p servers, and finally he has started contemplating about getting a gaming PC smile.gif

Yeah I agree to a certin extent ive been able to max out conviction since running my crossfired 6570s! From there I jumped on single 6870 then crossfired those now iam playing it on crossfired 6970s ( a tad overkill) lol but quality wise I would have to disagree with you its much better on pc! I remember playing on xbox 360 live and I swear it almost feels like you have a dense cloud right in front of you the picture quality is just that bad haha, Yeah I could never go back to 360 after seeing what can be done on pc- I tried it 1 time and I didn't make it a whole 5 minutes I just got spoiled you can say? wheee.gif.....I am kinda curious how the new-gen console does against its older counter-part,ive read there both using the amd jaguar chip and claming to be ever so close to pc gaming- I will believe it when I see it haha
Battlefield 3 I can tell you from personal experience there is NO comparison between xbox 360 and pc,ive played it on both and man oh man what a difference! Actually any game will come out on top I think on a pc,but they are getting better equipment that's for sure! ...............Price wise I don't know what they are planning on releasing on the new-gen stuff but lets just say for the sake of argument $500 dollars, You can still build your own rig and be able to beat the new-gens graphics ( my opinion)

Yeah it can capture any refresh rate (as long as your hardware can keep up)

The interface is somewhat more complicated than fraps but imo its worth the hassle. You can also record multiple audio streams (and if you use virtual audio cable you can have every audio stream on a separate channel) although thats out of the scope of what you want to accomplish.
